Over the course of Marvel’s Avengers' release, one looming question has persisted: when will Spider-Man arrive?
The web-slinger was first announced as a PlayStation exclusive hero, much to the dismay of other platform owners. More information about how Spider-Man would be integrated into Marvel's Avengers trickled out, with the studio confirming that players would get some narrative alongside the release of the hero.
Finally, a release date was officially announced for the webslinger's arrival: November 30, 2021.
Crystal Dynamics has been incredibly careful in what it has shown players in the lead-up to release, only offering the smallest glimpses of Spider-Man's new design. The web-slinger was spotted hanging around with his fellow Avengers in an updated roadmap image, albeit only showing him from behind. The developers also showed off Spidey's loadout, which provided a pixelated look at the wallcrawler's mask and boots in-game.
Now, fans have finally gotten their first proper look at the webhead fighting in the streets of Marvel's Avengers' NYC.
First Look at Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers
Crystal Dynamics revealed the first clear look at Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers in anticipation of the hero's arrival on PlayStation on November 30, 2021.
The image shows off the web-slinger in a noticeably MCU-inspired outfit, battling AIM forces alongside Thor, Iron Man, and Ms. Marvel.
According to Marvel's Avengers' Senior Community & Social Media Manager Andy Wong, the suit will be named the Iconic Outfit.
From the eye lenses to the panel lining of the fabric, the Tom Holland Spider-Man inspirations are clear. Crystal Dynamics has added some of its own flairs though, such as a unique Spidey logo and black padding on the fingers and foot soles.
In a follow-up tweet, the studio also teased that the first trailer featuring Spider-Man will be revealed by IGN on November 11, 2021.
Spider-Man Finally Joins Thor, Iron Man & More
After officially being granted the title of Avenger in the MCU, Spider-Man will now gain his status as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the video game realm, too. Players will finally get the chance to have Spider-Man fight alongside the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, newcomer Ms. Marvel, and more in true Avengers fashion.
The suit itself is rather interesting, considering that it takes more than a few notes from the MCU's depiction of the web-slinger. This isn't the first time that a video game has seemingly course-corrected to align with the movies, as Marvel's Spider-Man changed Peter Parker's facial features to look suspiciously more like Tom Holland's version in the remastered edition of the game. It is unknown whether Sony or Marvel had any influence on these decisions, but the similarities are almost certainly not a coincidence.
Regardless, the suit itself looks slick, matching the realistic style of Marvel's Avengers while still retaining the vibrant, classic look of the comics. And better yet, fans will soon get to see it in action when the first trailer featuring Spider-Man swings by on November 11, 2021.
Spider-Man finally arrives for PlayStation players of Marvel's Avengers on November 30, 2021.
