It’s no secret Marvel’s Avengers has had a tough road since its 2020 release. Between bugs, difficult loot and cosmetics systems, and poor sales, Square Enix’s Marvel video game has faced an uphill battle.
To try and remedy this Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have worked on a roadmap full of new content and updates for the game. Between the additions of Kate Bishop, the Black Panther War for Wakanda expansion, and refinements to in-game systems, Marvel’s Avengers is gradually putting itself back on the right track.
One thing that could make or break the game is the addition of Spider-Man. The iconic character is set to get his own hero event in Marvel’s Avengers on November 30 and players are eager to find out more about the web slinger's inclusion.
Marvel's Avengers Spider-Man Details Revealed
During a Twitch stream with the game developers at Crystal Dynamics a new look at Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers was revealed.
At around the 15-minute mark of the stream a screen from Marvel's Avengers gives a preview of what the upcoming Spider-Man update will look like in the game.
The screen in the background gives a look at the Spider-Man loadout option.
An image of the Spider-Man skin in Marvel's Avengers can also be partially seen.
A look at the Spider-Man nameplate that will be used in the game was also on display.
It also appears players will be able to collect comics when playing as Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers with a tab reading '0/108 Comics Collected'.
Spider-Man Swings Into Another Video Game
While this stream was in no way a proper reveal of Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers it is one of the best looks at the character's inclusion in the game so far.
It’s hard to make out much of Spider-Man’s costume based on this image but so far it seems to be comic-accurate. Another image of the back Spider-Man’s suit was shown in the roadmap reveal for the game which, when pieced together, gives a better idea of how the character will appear in Marvel’s Avengers.
As confirmed in Square Enix's roadmap, Spider-Man's inclusion in the game will be more than just a character skin. Spider-Man will have his own storyline, set of abilities, and achievements to unlock, although it's unclear right now whether this version of the character is linked to Insomniac's Spider-Man video game.
Like Insomniac's successful Spider-Man title, Marvel's Avengers' Spider-Man content will only be available on PlayStation systems when it launches in November. This is no doubt disappointing for players on other platforms, but Crystal Dynamics has confirmed Spider-Man won't be the last hero to come to Marvel's Avengers.
