It was announced at Disney's Investor Day event last year that Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau would be starring alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan in the Captain Marvel sequel. The last time fans saw Monica was in one of the post-credit scenes from WandaVision, which suggested that she was headed to space.
Monica had her own origin story in WandaVision, gaining light-spectrum powers by going through Wanda's hex several times and altering her DNA. However, she never got a proper superhero name in the show, which is likely being left to be revealed in Captain Marvel 2, or as it is called now, The Marvels.
However, the logo for the sequel might point to what Monica's superhero name will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
CLUE TO MONICA'S SUPERHERO MONIKER
Fans have noticed that in the new logo for The Marvels, the superhero symbol for Monica Rambeau can also be seen, pointing to which moniker she will have in the MCU.
In Captain Marvel, Maria Rambeau's call sign as a pilot was Photon, which many assumed Monica would use to honor her mother. However, the logo used in The Marvels title says otherwise.
After Photon, the moniker Monica used was Spectrum, to which this logo most closely matches. This may indicate that Monica will likely be calling herself Spectrum in the MCU.
THE MARVELETTES ARE TEAMING UP SOON
Another fun fact for fans unfamiliar with the comics, but Monica Rambeau actually had the title of Captain Marvel before Carol Danvers did. However, it was more out of convenience in keeping the “Captain Marvel” trademark rather than any definitive story reason relating to Mar-Vell, who had the name first in Marvel Comics.
That tidbit could be potentially referenced in the Captain Marvel sequel, but Monica likely won't inherit the title until Larson exits the franchise. As for Monica being called Spectrum, it seems far more likely since it's her current superhero moniker in the comics and more closely relates to her light-spectrum powers displayed in WandaVision.
The Marvels is currently scheduled to release in theaters on November 11, 2022.
