Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man 3 gains more notoriety by the day thanks to seemingly regular rumors and reports about new cast members joining the fray. The most recent update comes in the form of a rumor that Willem Dafoe and Thomas Hayden Church will reprise their roles from the original Sam Raimi-directed trilogy as Green Goblin and Sandman, marking the third and fourth reported villains in the movie alongside Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock.

On the other side of this fight will be the MCU’s Peter Parker and Doctor Strange , and it appears that they will have plenty of back up. Two of the most prominent members of the good guy side are the first two live-action Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield , teasing the arrival of a full-blown MCU Spider-Verse.

News surrounding this release has flooded through the entire movie industry, as proven by a new interview with another star from the original Spidey trilogy that began nearly two decades ago.

NEWS

In a news interview with ComicBook, Spider-Man star Joe Manganiello expressed his excitement to see what will happen with Tobey Maguire’s rumored appearance in the untitled Spider-Man 3 . He heaps plenty of praise onto Marvel Studios with this quote on the matter:

"I am fascinated to see how all of that is going to play. I think Marvel has done an amazing job up to this point. And I know that all of those characters are in very good hands. So, I'm very, very curious to see how that will all work out, if that all is indeed true."

WHAT THIS MEANS

Spider-Man 3 is already the talk of the entertainment community, especially with the fact that it will bring together all three generations of actors from the character's history in live-action movies. Multiple actors are confirmed to be returning from both Sam Raimi and Marc Webb's series, and the hype is at an all-time high as director Jon Watts brings this massive story together.

Joe Manganiello played the original Flash Thompson in 2002's Spider-Man , which was only the second credited role of his career before he turned himself into a worldwide acting phenomenon. It's clear that he holds this experience as a great memory and shares the excitement of so many fans who can't wait to see Tobey Maguire don the red-and-blue spandex suit for the first time in over a decade. These quotes come during the midst of his own run in the superhero movie genre as he prepares to see his work as Deathstroke in the DCEU come to life in the Snyder Cut of Justice League .

Even though Maguire and Andrew Garfield are only rumored for cameos in this multiversal mega-production, the opportunity to see all three Spider-Men on screen at the same time will make for a truly special moment through the course of Phase 4 . Spider-Man 3 is currently filming and will release in theaters on December 17, 2021.
