2021 within eyesight, signaling the beginning of Marvel Cinematic Universe's return to screens.
After the first year since 2009 with no new content released, 2021 will mark Marvel Studios' most jam-packed year to date as the team brings ten new projects to theaters and Disney+. This trend will go to another level in 2022 with twelve releases total, six each for theatrical and streaming debuts, assuming no more release dates.
One of the summer blockbuster releases for 2022 is Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder coming out on May 6, which will be the first time a starring MCU hero has had a fourth solo movie. Although this adventure will be centered around Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder, the cast is so expansive that it's starting to bring the feel of a full-fledged Avengers movie .
Jamie Alexander's Lady Sif hasn't been seen in the MCU's big-screen movies since 2013's Thor: The Dark World , although she reprised the role in the first two seasons of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD on ABC. Her absence was felt in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok , especially as Hela killed her companions from the Warriors Three quite swiftly. Recent reports claim that Alexander will have a powerful return in Thor: Love and Thunder and possibly even Loki .
The Sif actress has now teased her appearance in her latest social media blast.
In a new post on her Instagram account, Jamie Alexander posted two pictures of herself as Lady Sif kicking away an Airstreamer, noting her "#mood" on the final day of 2020. The pictures come from her appearance as the Asgardian warrior in Season 1 of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD on ABC, although many fans are speculating that her post is teasing her role in 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder and maybe even Loki releasing in May.
Her full post can be seen below, along with the caption "Last Thursday of 2020" :
Alexander shared two separate photos in her Instagram Story from her appearances in the Thor franchise on the big screen:
The first photo of Alexander playing Sif in 2011's Thor while she is stabbing the Destroyer, hilariously indicating what everyone worldwide would like to do to the year 2020.
The second photo shows Lady Sif from the opening battle of 2013's Thor: The Dark World , and Alexander appears ready for the new year with the caption "How I'll be entering 2021. READY" and the double sword emoji.
WHAT THIS MEANS
As Alexander fights alongside Chris Hemsworth's Thor for the first time in nearly a decade in Thor: Love and Thunder , she joins an all-star team of MCU heroes like Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, Chris Pratt's Star-Lord and likely more of the Guardians of the Galaxy . This movie is putting together the biggest team-up effort in a solo feature since 2016's Captain America: Civil War , and it appears to be necessary as the crew goes up against Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher .
Jamie Alexander and the rest of the cast in Thor: Love and Thunder will begin production in Australia over the next few weeks. The film will release in theaters on May 6, 2022.
