MCU: Jaimie Alexander To Return In Marvel's Thor 4 and Possibly Loki Disney+ Show

Lady Sif, Thor

After an absolutely massive day of news from the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the Disney Investor’s Meeting, fans are still trying to process an entire slew of plans for new projects in the near future. This is on top of already confirmed news for movies and series already announced that are filming and prepping to release starting next year.

In a film already starring Chris Pratt and Christian Bale, the rumors of Thor: Love and Thunder being close to an Avengers-level production are becoming truer by the day. That trend is continuing with the most recent casting announcement, which will see a familiar face return to the MCU for the first time in nearly a decade.

NEWS

Deadline is reporting that Jamie Alexander will be returning to the MCU, reprising the role of Lady Sif in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Deadline insiders also believe she may be in for a guest spot in the Disney+ series Loki, which premieres in May.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t have a great deal of time at the Disney Investor’s Meeting to shine, although fans are already geeking out at the reveal of Christian Bale officially playing Gorr the God Butcher. This news should have fans even more excited for this movie, which already boasts one of the most high-profile casts in Phase 4.

Lady Sif has not been seen on the big screen since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, although Jamie Alexander did bring the role to Seasons 1 and 2 of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD on ABC. With her absence in Thor: Ragnarok due to scheduling conflicts, there were questions as to whether she would ever play the role again, and now she should make an excellent addition to Thor’s all-star team of heroes.

It will be interesting to find out what she has been up to since her last appearance, including if she was dusted in Avengers: Infinity War, and how her skills come in handy as the God of Thunder takes on Gorr the God Butcher. With a roster boasting Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor, Valkyrie, Star-Lord and possibly more of the Guardians of the Galaxy, this movie’s core cast will be a force to be reckoned with.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin filming in January 2021, and it will release in theaters on May 6, 2022.
