Star Wars fans are getting antsy for the impending trailer for The Mandalorian Season 2, with the first look at a live-action Ahsoka Tano hopefully involved as well. The rumor mill indicated that the trailer would launch during the NBA playoffs last week, but those games have come and gone without the debut of the highly anticipated first look.
While the wait for the trailer has gotten frustrating for many, scoopers have gotten in touch with their sources to get a handle on the situation. At the moment, everyone still seems to be in the dark on the real date for the trailer launch, but one outlet claims to have new details on the first-look, and a potential explanation for its delay...
NEWS
In an exclusive report on YouTube , Kessel Run Transmissions has suggested that Rosario Dawson shot footage as Ahsoka Tano for The Mandalorian two weeks ago. While not completely certain, KRT claims that sequence was filmed specifically for marketing purposes, which caused the delay of the rumored trailer release last week.
According to KRT, the scene in question features Ahsoka in a gray cloak fighting two Bounty Hunter assassins. The location hosting the battle is said to be a familiar Star Wars location, which was implied to be a cantina. While further details were scarce, KRT's sources ensured them that the footage filmed was "phenomenal".
WHAT THIS MEANS
With The Mandalorian's marketing being such a questionable topic, it's best to take this rumor with a grain of salt and hope to be pleasantly surprised. It's strange that the sequence allegedly filmed was done so late in the game for the trailer, but it's possible that Favreau and Filoni were looking for something specific for the trailer that they didn't get during principal photography.
If true, the sequence that was filmed sounds amazing. Any appearance by Ahsoka will certainly come at the end of the trailer and serve as a " Chewie, we're home" moment for Season 2's marketing campaign. The location described is almost certainly the Mos Eisley Cantina, seen previously in Chapter 5: The Gunslinger from Season 1. Despite only being intended for marketing, there's a good chance that the story does take us back to Tatooine, where fan-favorite characters new and old will duke it out under the twin suns.
It's been a long, frustrating wait, but the trailer for Season 2 is nearly here. With the planned Star Wars Celebration weekend now upon us, the first-look at the upcoming season could hit any day now. Soon, we'll be watching the continued adventures of Din Djarin and The Child with a live-action Ahsoka in the world.
