With the marketing for The Mandalorian Season 2 beginning to ramp up, the gap finally seems to be closing between now and the premiere. Last week, it was announced that the second season would debut on October 30 alongside the reveal of a new title poster , and today Entertainment Weekly delivered with an exclusive first look at the season , including new images and interviews with the creators and cast .
For months, the long awaited live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano has been heavily rumored to happen in Season 2. The fan favorite, reportedly played by Rosario Dawson, is said to appear in an episode of The Mandalorian that will serve as a backdoor into her own live-action series. If a recent rumor is correct, it looks like she'll be accompanied by some familiar friends...
NEWS
During an episode of their YouTube livestream , Kessel Run Transmissions shared a rumor that both Captain Rex and Sabine Wren will be appearing in the Ahsoka Tano live-action series, per a reliable source. Rex will be played by Temuera Morrison, while Sabine's actress is still unknown.
Additionally, KRT double-downed that Rex and Sabine will also be appearing in the second season of The Mandalorian , and stated they have 100% confirmation that both Ahsoka and Bo-Katan Kryze will be featured in the series as well.
WHAT THIS MEANS
While it's been strongly rumored for months, getting more word on Rex and Sabine popping up in The Mandalorian is always exciting, even if it's coming from unofficial sources. We're so close to the premiere of Season 2 now, so it won't be long until we learn how the (previously) animated characters will factor into the show's events, and what may happen that propels the plot of the Ahsoka series.
Rex and Sabine joining Ahsoka in the latter's TV show seems like a given, but with the trajectory of both The Mandalorian and the rumored Rebels animated sequel still unknown everything is up in the air. It's impossible to speculate on the nature of the series without knowing basic elements of the plot, but in a few months' time thing should begin to be cleared up.
The future of Star Wars on Disney+ is bright, and Rex and Sabine are about to take their first steps into a larger world.
