Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially taken the world by storm, as the MCU threequel makes its mark as the biggest blockbuster of 2021. After more than two years of internet-breaking teases and leaks regarding the film's plot and characters, Tom Holland’s third solo Spidey movie found a way to exceed the incredible hype leading up to its release.
Critically, No Way Home became one of the MCU’s most beloved movies in history, which includes a place as the highest rated movie ever to be reviewed on Rotten Tomatoes. That reception came on top of a wildly impressive financial return for Sony and Marvel, as it became the first movie in two years to reach a billion dollars at the global box office.
Now that No Way Home is out to the public, completing Marvel’s 2021 slate of projects, MCU fans are looking forward to even more on the way in 2022. To help with that, the studio is using its latest theatrical release to ring in the new year in a fun way.

Considering Spider-Man's current place at the top of pop culture thanks to the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it seems only right that Marvel would want to utilize his popularity to help welcome in the new year for the company and its fans.
No Way Home continues to rise up the ranks of the movie industry's highest-grossing outings after two full weeks in theaters, and that doesn't look to be slowing down anytime in the near future. The threequel has yet to release in more than a handful of countries worldwide, which should only boost its already massive box office success even further up the charts.
Now, with 2021 officially coming to a close, Marvel looks to improve even further on its success with Phase 4 as 2022 gets underway.
The studio has at least five Disney+ shows planned for release next year, including major outings like Moon Knight while the movie slate is highlighted by sequels like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. With the Spider-Man threequel sending Marvel Studios out of 2021 with a bang, things should only be looking up for the MCU in the near future.
