Sony Pictures is actively working to expand its Spider-Man Universe after seeing massive profits from last year's Spider-Man: No Way Home. As the company tries to put Morbius in the rear-view mirror, the franchise is already deep into filming Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven the Hunter, which will bring one of Marvel's most fearsome villains to the big screen.
This will be Taylor-Johnson's second Marvel role after first playing Quicksilver in the MCU's Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he has a stellar cast of characters surrounding him in this story. From Academy Award-winner Ariana DeBose to Man of Steel and Thor: Love and Thunder's Russell Crowe, Sony has high hopes for what this master hunter can add to a story featuring Venom and Morbius.
Fans recently got their best look yet at Taylor-Johnson's muscular and bearded leading man in set photos after filming kicked off for the Spider-Man spin-off a few weeks ago.
Now, after the movie's recent showing at CinemaCon 2022, fans have new details about one scene that came into play from the sizzle reel.
Kraven Goes to Snowy Climate
CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell, via @WGreatPowerBook, provided details on the sizzle reel that Sony Pictures showed for its upcoming movies, which included Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven the Hunter.
This short bit of footage included Taylor-Johnson hanging off of a moving car and reportedly punching out the windshield. Additionally, Kraven is seen running in a snowy climate, although there was only a little footage that aired at the convention:
"There was very short Kraven The Hunter footage in the sizzle. ATJ hanging onto that car and then punching a windshield. Then, Kraven running through snow. Very little. Title treatment too. Should be online soon."
Kraven Returning to his Homeland?
At the present time, there is barely anything known about what Sony is planning for Kraven the Hunter, with most of the information that's public being about its all-star cast. However, this scene description could mean a couple of different things about where the movie plans to take his first big-screen solo story.
Seeing that Kraven is of Soviet descent, this snowy scene could be from somewhere near his home country as he works his way into being a powerful adversary in his world. This could also be from a snowier climate in an area where Kraven is sent on an assignment depending on how he makes his name as a hunter, although it's difficult to tell with so little information currently known.
However the details work out, this snowy area should be something to watch out for in the plot if the studio deems it big enough to include in Kraven's sizzle reel. With the movie not set to release until early next year, there are still plenty of mysteries left to be solved while filming continues.
Kraven the Hunter is set to premiere in theaters on January 13, 2023.
