Who built the pyramids? Where is the lost city of Atlantis? Will Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Some questions in life are unanswerable. While fans will know the latter's answer come December, the Maguire/Garfield question feels like it's been asked for eternity. Despite both Sony and star Tom Holland adamantly denying past Peter Parkers popping up in this threequel, fan speculation has not slowed down for a minute.

Imaginary lines have been pieced together for months, but recent evidence points towards at least one of the former Spideys showing face in Holland's third installment.

FAMILIAR FACE ON SPIDEY SET

Andrew Garfield's stunt double is on the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As pointed out by Twitter user @simonmoore2110, Garfield's double from both The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, William Spencer, posted an Instagram video showing him on a film set.

In the caption, Spencer tagged Greg Townley, the stunt double for Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, indicating that both Spencer and Townley are performing stunt work on the set of Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 3.

UPDATE: Spencer has since deleted the post from his Instagram account.

IS A LIVE-ACTION SPIDER-VERSE MATERIALIZING?

Spencer's apparent homecoming to a Spider-Man set is far from confirmation that he's once again Garfield's double, but there's no way the coincidence can be ignored.

It's important to note that Spencer's video takes place on film set, not necessarily Spidey 3's set. That said, what other soundstage would bring both The Amazing Spider-Man and the MCU's Spider-Man stunt doubles together?

Beyond that, Spencer deleting the post indicates it revealed something not meant to be public just yet. Again, this is by no means confirmation, but the fact that the post was only deleted once news started to circulate about the stunt double connections is worth noting.

This past December, Collider reported with "great emphasis" that Andrew Garfield had signed on to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Even with their strong confidence, that report was never confirmed, leaving Garfield's status in question. On top of that, star Tom Holland denied that neither Garfield or Tobey Maguire would be in his threequel. This set video is the closest thing fans have in terms of evidence of Garfield's involvement.

If this video does mean Garfield will play a role in No Way Home, the inclusion of his stunt double indicates he will share an action scene with Holland's wall-crawler. Considering the main antagonist from Garfield's last appearance as Spider-Man, Jamie Foxx's Electro, has been confirmed to pop up in No Way Home, it's possible Garfield will find himself in a rematch with his voltage villain.

Speculation has no signs of slowing down, but fans will finally get their answers when Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters on December 17, 2021.
