Marvel Studios kicks its 2022 into full gear on March 30. Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight premieres its first episode ahead of its six-week run, one that will end just two days before the theatrical release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Just one month after Benedict Cumberbatch's Avengers-level sequel, Iman Vellani makes her long-awaited debut as Kamala Khan in her self-titled solo series, Ms. Marvel.
While Ms. Marvel's production did not have the start-stop COVID-19 obstacles that fellow 2020 Marvel Studios' projects experienced, this series did undergo its fair share of tribulations. Filming initially wrapped in May 2021, but late "substantial" reshoots put Ms. Marvel on uncertain release status. That changed when Marvel Studios confirmed in the show's first official trailer that the series would begin streaming on June 8.
Aside from the one teaser trailer, Ms. Marvel has yet to dive into its digital promotional campaign. Still, Marvel Studios is all in on getting international eyes on all of its upcoming projects.
Marvel Studios Highlights Kamala Khan
She may claim she's in fantasy land, but Ms. Marvel is very much a reality.
During a presentation in Thailand, Marvel Studios showcased its three 2022 streaming shows to audience members.
Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight, Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel, and Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk all highlighted their title cards, but only She-Hulk was without a promo image of its title character.
The glimpse at Vellani's Ms. Marvel showcases her in her final suit, complete with her domino mask and red tassels.
Ms. Marvel Suits Up
Trailer footage indicates Kamala Khan will be rocking her Captain Marvel Halloween costume for a couple of episodes, but promo images like these hint that she will be full Ms. Marvel for a large portion of the series.
A running constant in Marvel Studios' Disney+ productions has been improved threads. Everyone from Bucky Barnes to Clint Barton received a new suit by the end of their solo series. While the aforementioned upgrades were mostly for style, others' new suits like Sam Wilson and Wanda Maximoff represented a pivotal turning point for their characters.
The Winter Soldier and Hawkeye's costumes were prominent across The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye marketing material, while Falcon and Scarlet Witch's fresh get-ups were saved for their shows' finales. Showcasing Kamala Khan's final form this early indicates her transformation will likely come somewhere in the middle stages of the six-episode show.
Ms. Marvel begins streaming on Disney+ on June 8.
