Marvel Studios is beginning to ramp up its promotional tour for the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which comes with the premiere of Loki on Disney+. The third Phase 4 entry will feature a fan favorite in Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief as he tackles his own solo adventure with a decade’s worth of adventures behind him.
While plot details are still being kept secret for a few more weeks, Loki will be off on his own after stealing the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. This will put him on the radar of the newly introduced Time Variance Authority, led by Owen Wilson's Mobius M. Mobius, who gets him to help them fix the timeline while keeping Loki from his usual mischief for the time being.
As the MCU currently stands, Loki has more hints than most of its colleagues that it will continue into a second season and beyond. While this isn't set in stone yet, Hiddleston's most recent quotes leave the door wide open for more adventures.
TOM HIDDLESTON IS JUST BEGINNING
Entertainment Weekly released a feature on Marvel Studios' next Disney+ series Loki, in which leading actor Tom Hiddleston explored the possibility of more stories after Season 1 ends.
While nothing is officially confirmed for a Season 2, Hiddleston admits that he's "open to everything." Saying goodbye and hello to the character on multiple occasions, he remains "grateful that [he's] still here" and appears excited that "there are still new roads to explore:"
"I'm open to everything. I have said goodbye to the character. I've said hello to the character. I said goodbye to the character [again]. I've learned not to make assumptions, I suppose. I'm just grateful that I'm still here, and there are still new roads to explore."
LOKI ALWAYS READY TO COME BACK
Tom Hiddleston has turned Loki into the defining role of his acting career after first appearing in 2011's Thor, making reprising the role five times before his first Disney+ outing. Considering his resourcefulness through the years, it only makes sense that he's primed to make nearly as many appearances with Marvel as he and the studio want.
With Loki now in direct contact with the dimension-jumping Time Variance Authority, there are no limits to the stories the MCU could bring to life with the franchise's iconic trickster. Alternate realities have already been teased through the show's first few trailers, which comes on top of Loki's knack for finding his way out of any number of tough situations.
Regardless of what happens in future seasons, Hiddleston appears to be far from done bringing this role to life for Marvel Studios. Anticipation is building quickly to see what he can do writing his own story going forward.
Loki will premiere on Disney+ on June 9, 2021.
