Tom Hiddleston's Loki opened up the door to the MCU's Multiverse upon its arrival in Summer 2021, giving the God of Mischief his first-ever Marvel solo project. Pitting Hiddleston's anti-hero in a time-jumping extravaganza alongside the Time Variance Authority, this six-episode entry took some of the franchise’s biggest steps toward expanding the universe in Phase 4.
Although Marvel Studios is set to utilize Disney+ to expand the MCU for a long time to come, Loki was the first to officially be confirmed for a second season. Following Hiddleston's appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the adopted Asgardian son will be back for another round of madness that could bring even more thrills.
While Loki Season 2 was confirmed during the credits of Season 1, Episode 6, there are no details pertaining to when fans can expect the next round of episodes to make their way to Disney+. Thankfully, that day may be a little closer thanks to a report revealing when Hiddleston and crew will begin filming once again.
When Does Loki Season 2 Start Filming?
Backstage revealed that Marvel Studios is planning to film Season 2 of Tom Hiddleston's Loki in London in Summer 2022. No release date or casting details were confirmed, although filming is set to take place at the United Kingdom's Pinewood Studios.
What's Next for Loki in Season 2?
Although Loki was the first live-action MCU show to earn a second season, it may still be some time until fans see what the God of Mischief's next adventure holds.
The MCU last left Hiddleston's fan-favorite character in a state of chaos alongside Owen Wilson's Mobius and Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15 in the TVA. This came after Sylvie killed Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains and caused the Multiverse to go haywire, even planting a statue of the powerful villain in the changed TVA headquarters.
Given how much is in store for the MCU's Multiversal storyline in the next couple of years, there are plenty of variables in play for what could happen in Loki Season 2. With Hiddleston appearing in 2022's Doctor Strange sequel and Jonathan Majors going full Kang the Conqueror in 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Loki's next solo adventure is shrouded in mystery.
Now, with filming for Season 2 set to begin in the UK this summer, that begs the question of when that new batch of episodes will debut on Disney+.
Filming will likely take anywhere from six months to a year, setting the earliest possible release date sometime in mid-2023 with a quick turnaround. Depending on what happens with Kang in Ant-Man 3 and with other projects dealing with the Multiverse, there's no telling when fans will be getting that next dose of mischief.
No matter when that comes, the fact that filming is starting in the next few months should bring plenty of excitement for Hiddleston's continuing MCU run as Loki.
