Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are now all the way through the opening weekend for Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU's 27th theatrical release and the franchise's final film of 2021. Coming to the public after more than a year's worth of internet-breaking leaks and rumors teasing returns from the likes of Charlie Cox, Andrew Garfield, and more, No Way Home somehow exceeded a level of hype that fans hadn't seen outside of blockbuster team-ups like Avengers: Endgame.

Fans all over the world are flocking to theaters to see what Tom Holland's solo threequel delivered in nearly two and a half hours of screentime, leading to a record-breaking $260 million domestic opening weekend. This only comes behind Avengers: Endgame's $357 million, and considering this movie released during a global pandemic, the feat is even that much more impressive.

Taking into account how many denials came on the subject, fans were thrilled to see No Way Home bring back Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as their respective Spider-Man. Garfield, in particular, had done his part by refuting his return on countless occasions, and he slipped right back into the role effortlessly as he teamed up with Maguire and Holland to stop the Fearsome Five.

Garfield hasn't shied away from speaking about his love for the role over the years, particularly after his The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was canceled in favor of Spider-Man moving to the MCU. Now, after his glorious return to the red-and-blue spandex, fans are sharing their own opinions about Garfield's future with the role.

Fans Clamoring for The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Following the theatrical release of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are crying out on Twitter for Sony to bring Andrew Garfield back to the role of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The hashtag #MakeTASM3 is currently trending on the social media site with over 46,000 Tweets, including the following posts.

@pmbunboxings shared an image of Garfield playing basketball with kids on a New York City court, reminding everyone how great of a person he is and crying out for him to have the chance to "fight an alien:"

@TheFirstOkiro shared a video of Garfield reading emotional messages about Spider-Man from the panel for The Amazing Spider-Man at San Diego Comic-Con, begging Sony to give Garfield a chance to revisit the character he loves so much:

@Sentinel_OpsYT expressed his desire for Garfield to at least have "closure" with his movies, even with the disappointment of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The Tweet included multiple images from that movie, as well as one of Garfield from his Comic-Con appearance.

@Itssan17 shared a list of regional theater listings for No Way Home and a call to fans to get the #MakeTASM3 hashtag trending worldwide again.

Amazing Spider-Man 3 - The New Snyder Cut?

Fan cries for movies on Twitter are nothing new, as was seen within the last couple of years for Zack Snyder's Justice League. While that movie eventually came to HBO Max as something of a one-time event, it almost feels like there could be more to this movement for a hypothetical The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Of course, the MCU's Spider-Man franchise has seen overwhelming success over the last four years while Sony diligently works to build its own universe of other Spidey-centric characters. While Tom Holland is set to continue into future MCU movies with a new suit and a new life ahead of him, Garfield's hero is now firmly back in his own universe with plenty of stories left to tell.

There aren't many hints pointing to what story could be developed in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 if it were to go into production, but after No Way Home, it's clear that it would have a huge following should it become a reality.

Andrew Garfield put forth an incredible effort in his first MCU movie after seven years away from the role, as he reminded fans of how much passion he has for the young web-slinger. What Sony decides to do after these fan cries for a third solo movie is still a mystery, but with the Multiverse now fully realized, the door to The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could now be open.
