The countdown is on for the recently announced Disney+ Day. The celebration, coming on November 12, will have the entertainment world turning its eye towards the House of Mouse's streaming service to celebrate its second anniversary.
Other than an MCU panel, blockbusters like Jungle Cruise and Shang-Chi, and possibly some announcements, not too much is known as to what Disney has in store for the day, but rest assured fans will have plenty to earmark their calendar over.
And according to a new press release from the movie-making giant, another reveal has emerged from the Disney+ Day shadow.
A Special Fit for a Bounty Hunter
Disney has announced that a special centered around iconic Star Wars character Boba Fett will be released as a part of Disney+ Day on November 12.
Quoting from the official press release, the special will celebrate "the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter, Boba Fett"
No further information on the content of the special was provided; however, it is likely an attempt to drum up hype for the upcoming Book of Boba Fett series.
Building Up Boba
While a special on Star Wars' iconic Mandalorian may not be earth-shattering news, it is a headline that will be welcomed by many. The galaxy far, far away consists of deep and heavily layered lore, so any chance to dive into the minutia of that lore is one the Lucasfilm faithful will take.
As for what this special could be is still up in the air. Boba was recently reintroduced to the Star Wars canon in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and will appear in his own spin-off The Book of Boba Fett later this year, so it is evident that Disney is clearing a path to make this character feel important to the fandom again.
Looking at the brief blurb provided on the special, it is likely this will resemble the Marvel Studio Legends series of vignettes produced to look at the history of various Marvel characters in the MCU. This however could tie in info from the Star Wars movies, books, comics, TV shows, and video games. Think Legends, but going even deeper.
Also, if this Boba Fett special does mimic the Legends formula, this could be just the first of many. The format could be easily continued upon, highlighting the history of various personalities within the Star Wars universe, releasing new episodes as characters come in and out of the spotlight.
All questions as to what this special has in store will become clear on November 12.
