Loki is gearing up for an explosive finale, and speculation is running rampant about who is really behind the Time Variance Authority. The mysterious time-based organization made its MCU debut in the show's first episode, and they immediately made an impact due to their knowledge of the multiverse and the cosmic presence of the Time-Keepers.
Throughout the first season, there were multiple hints that the TVA is not what it seems, especially after Tom Hiddleson's Loki's doubts about the organization. This was further amplified by the arrival of Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie since she revealed that the agents assigned within the institution are all Variants.
Episode 4 unveiled a major reveal about the TVA that finally showed that the Time-Keepers are just mindless androids instead of being powerful cosmic beings who controlled the Sacred Timeline. The penultimate installment then revealed what really happens when a Variant is pruned, ultimately showing that they all end up in a place called The Void at the end of time.
Coincidentally, Loki and Sylvie found out that The Void is the same place where the true leader of the TVA resides, and it seems that it's up to them to uncover the truth about the matter.
Now, ahead of the finale, Hiddleston has teased what to expect in the last episode of the season.
TOM HIDDLESTON TEASES SURPRISES IN LOKI FINALE
Tom Hiddleston sat down as a guest on Jimmy Fallon Live to talk about the upcoming finale of Loki.
Fallon asked the MCU veteran if he can say anything about the show's last episode, but Hiddleston can only acknowledge the burning questions that fans have about the mysterious TVA, ending with a tease that only "time will tell:"
"I suppose I can tell you is, if you followed the show thus far, all the characters and the audience have a number of questions about this TVA, the Time Variance Authority. Who made it? What is it? Who runs it? Is it run by anyone or anything? Who created it? All I can say is... time will tell."
THE SECRETS OF THE TVA
Tom Hiddleston's latest comments suggest that he can't really say anything about Loki's finale, but the fact that his remark focused on the TVA could hint that the episode will revolve around resolving the mystery about the organization.
Marvel snipers aside, it's safe to say that the true leader of the TVA will finally be unmasked in the finale. From Kang the Conqueror to a more superior Loki Variant (sorry Endgame Loki), theories about the identity of this powerful individual have floated around social media.
There's reason to believe that Kang or at least a version of himself is pulling the strings from behind, especially considering the fact that Loki is a time-travel show. It makes narrative sense for Kang to be involved in some form, and it will be interesting to find out why he created the TVA in the first place.
On the flip side, it would also be fitting if a more powerful Loki Variant is behind all of this, meaning that a full-blown showdown among Lokis will be in the cards. It's possible that Kang could also be involved, with him potentially giving out orders to this Loki Variant for his own gain.
The first five episodes of Loki are now streaming on Disney+.
