Jason Momoa's Aquaman 2 Casts Pilou Asbaek In Mystery DC Role

The DC Extended Universe is looking to make some major expansions to its story over the next few years, largely through the use of sequels to its initial slate of films. This started with Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 as 2020 came to a close, and it will continue with outings like Shazam!: Fury of the Gods with Zachary Levi reprising the lead role.

Flying somewhat under the radar for the moment is Jason Momoa’s Aquaman 2 , which will continue the story of the DCEU’s highest-grossing movie to date. Director James Wan is set to devote all of his time to this outing after The Trench was taken off DC’s slate , and Amber Heard has shared her excitement about returning as Mera as well.

While not much is known about the rest of this movie’s team, a new cast member seems to be arriving at the scene…

A NEW ADDITION TO AQUAMAN 2

Deadline reported that former Game of Thrones star Pilou Asbaek is in talks to join the cast of Aquaman 2 alongside Jason Momoa. Asbaek's role is still undisclosed for the time being.

WHO WILL ASBAEK PLAY IN THE DCEU?

While Asbaek's role is completely unknown in terms of both which character he'll play and how expansive his role will be, Warner Bros. and DC Films continue to show the kind of talent for which they are looking to bring this next phase of films to life with.

Asbaek made a name for himself by appearing in nine episodes of the widely popular Game of Thrones on HBO, playing the role of Euron Greyjoy. His filmography only dates back to 2008, and this appearance in the Atlantean king's sequel will mark the biggest project of his career to date.

With this movie not set to debut in theaters for over 18 months, there are still likely plenty more casting announcements to come in the next few months. No matter when more information finds its way into the light, Asbaek will make a fantastic addition to this increasingly excellent cast led by Jason Momoa.
