After the successful first season of What If...?, Marvel Studios is now moving forward with another live-action series in the form of Hawkeye

Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the upcoming series will showcase the return of Jeremy Renner's bow-wielding hero as well as the highly-anticipated debut of Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop.

The exact plot details of the Disney+ series are still shrouded in secrecy, but marketing revealed several glimpses of its narrative, such as Kate posing as Ronin, Clint's trip to New York during Christmas, and the many enemies of the archer's past.

The inclusion of Kate in the series has led many to believe that there could be a passing-of-the-torch moment between her and Clint. Kate seems poised to take over the Hawkeye mantle as well as a future spot among the ranks of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Ahead of the show's premiere in November 2021, Steinfeld teased the bright future of Kate in a new interview.

Hailee Steinfeld, who is set to play Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, sat down with Empire to talk about her MCU debut and a potential Young Avengers team-up down the line.

Steinfeld first mentioned the "complicated" mother-daughter relationship that Hawkeye will showcase in its story between her character and Vera Farmiga's Eleanor Bishop, describing the pair's dynamic as "interesting:"

"Family is an interesting story to unpack. Mother-daughter relationships can be complicated in real life, and Kate is at an age where she's becoming her own person and disagrees with some of what her mom has to say. The dynamics are... interesting."

Empire then mentioned the possibility of a Young Avengers team-up in the future, with Kate Bishop serving as one of its members. The Hawkeye star was tight-lipped about the matter, saying that "there's a lot of new opportunities rising."

Steinfeld continued by teasing about the sheer determination of Kate that will be featured in the series, pointing out that her character should not be "underestimated in the slightest:"

"I'm excited to see where a character like Kate goes. She is not to be underestimated in the slightest. We see here how ambitious, how driven she is. The sky's the limit for her, I feel."

Hailee Steinfeld's latest comments about the intriguing dynamic between Kate Bishop and her mother could hint that it will be one of the backbones of Hawkeye's narrative. The actress' remarks about disagreements and Kate "becoming her own person" is proof of an imminent mother-daughter clash in the series.

The Direct previously reported that Hawkeye would feature Madame Masque's debut, meaning that Farmiga's Eleanor could end up taking the mantle. In the pages of Marvel Comics, Eleanor Bishop is the one giving orders to Madame Masque. However, Marvel Studios could change this relationship by turning Kate's mother into the villain herself.

Meanwhile, it is unknown what's next for Kate after Hawkeye, but it makes narrative sense for the character to become a future member of the Young Avengers down the line. Steinfeld's tight-lipped response could hint that she is aware of Kate's future, and her Young Avengers future could already be set in stone.

The trailers only showed a preview of what Kate is capable of, but Steinfeld's comments should further boost anticipation for her Marvel debut. Kate's passion for becoming a hero appears to be one of the character's most vital assets, and it will be interesting to find out how she will utilize it to help Clint overcome his long list of enemies in the series.

The first two episodes of Hawkeye will premiere on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
