Production of The Flash is underway, and details about the secretive plot are slowly unraveling.
A flurry of set photos made their way to social media last week, showcasing Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne, Ezra Miller's Barry Allen, and Sasha Calle's Supergirl in all her red and blue glory.
The Scarlet Speedster's solo film is rumored to adopt key elements of the iconic Flashpoint storyline, which follows the destructive butterfly effects of the Flash saving his mother in the past.
While the aforementioned set photos revealed what these characters will look like in the flesh, there are still a collection of concepts yet to be seen by fans.
FLASH CONCEPT ART SPOTLIGHTS SUPERHEROES
New concept art from The Flash has surfaced from a promotional video that was initially leaked on YouTube. The video itself also made its way to Twitter before taken down due to copyright claims. A description of the leaked art pieces can be found below:
The first batch of art showcased Michael Keaton's Batman, once again donning his 1989 Batsuit. Keaton stands inside the Batcave, looking on at the waterfall outside:
The next image spotlighted Sasha Calle's Supergirl, soaring above Keaton's Batman, Ezra Miller's Flash, and a mysterious character covered in a "SPOILER ALERT" logo:
The final image once again teamed Calle's Supergirl with Miller's Flash, but this time the Scarlet Speedster is in civilian clothes. The two heroes stand atop a castle-like building:
THREE LEADS FOR DCEU'S THE FLASH?
The plot of The Flash is still close to the vest, but this concept art gives a bit of indication towards where the heroes are going. For starters, are Keaton and Calle in leading roles?
Many speculated that Keaton would be no more than a glorified cameo. Couple these images with a rumor about his role being "as big as Sean Connery’s was in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," and it appears Keaton might just be in this flick for the long run. Set photos made clear he would show face as Bruce Wayne, but this art indicates the veteran actor will be donning the cowl at least two more times.
Calle's Supergirl has been a big question mark. Once Ray Fisher's Cyborg was removed from the script, rumors circulated that Supergirl would essentially be taking Victor Stone's role. If Cyborg was to play a 2 to Flash's 1, and Supergirl is in fact taking his position, Calle could have a sizable role in this film.
The images suggest she will be a part of at least two big scenes with the title character. Barry appears to be confronting her atop the building in what is likely a conversation to understand her better after their initial meet-up goes sour.
The art with the three potential leads shows Supergirl in a fighting stance as she soars over Batman, Flash, and that mystery character, possibly hinting that her first time on screen is similar to how Clark Kent reacts when he is first resurrected in Justice League.
As for that mystery character, there is not much to go off of. The figure is completely covered by the spoiler alert banner. This could be Ben Affleck's Batman, Fisher's Cyborg, or a completely new character that has yet to be revealed.
All answers will be revealed when The Flash hits theaters on November 4, 2022.
