Now that Marvel's Disney+ series Loki has cracked open the multiverse, one of the biggest questions posed by fans is when Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool will cross into the MCU.
While once considered a stretch, nowadays nothing seems off the table considering rumors of a Wanda Maximoff showdown with X-Men, an all-but-confirmed Venom tie to Holland's Spider-Man, and, of course, villains from Spidey franchises past appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In addition, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige has already confirmed the studio's time frame for Deadpool 3 saying that "the script is in the works."
In the meantime, fans are free to speculate and theorize about the impending crossover; and apparently, the same goes for Marvel's own present and future stars.
Hulk & Deadpool Referenced in Ruffalo & Reynolds' Film
In promoting Netflix's The Adam Project, starring the Hulk's Mark Ruffalo and Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds, Ruffalo posted a rather meta picture of the two actors to social media.
The photo shows the two comic book movie stars on the set of The Adam Project, lying next to what appears to be a plastic storage box. Ruffalo captioned the post saying:
"This is how I wish I was spending the #FirstDayofFall."
However, the presence of the two stars, and his reference to the changing seasons, isn't what got fans' attention. What did is the fact the box has stickers of both Reynolds' Deadpool and Ruffalo's Hulk on the lid.
More Hulk & Deadpool References to Come?
While it may be true that Ruffalo wishes he could've spent the first day of fall with Ryan Reynolds, the Twitter post was probably Ruffalo having some fun with Marvel fans and maybe teasing more crossover references to come in the Netflix film?
After all, since The Adam Project involves a father-son relationship, what Marvel fan wouldn't love to see Ruffalo with a Hulk action figure or Reynold's with a Deadpool?
Whether the stickers are the first or only reference to a Marvel crossover in the film, it's worth noting that Hulk isn't the only MCU character Deadpool has been pictured with recently.
In promoting Reynolds' film Free Guy, Thor: Ragnarok's Korg - played by Taika Waititi - reacted to the film's trailer alongside Deadpool.
While these crossover promos are fun for the fans, they do call attention to the question of when and where Deadpool will make his official MCU debut, and if one of Disney's recently revealed 2024 release dates belongs to Deadpool 3?
In the meantime, Mark Ruffalo is set to star in Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk following his shocking cameo appearance in a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' post-credits scene.
Deadpool 3 is currently in development at Marvel Studios.
