The Phase 4 slate that was announced back at Comic-Con in 2019 is finally coming to fruition in 2021 with the release of projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Loki, and Eternals.
There are still plenty more projects to come in this current phase, but that hasn’t stopped Disney from looking to the future. The company recently updated its upcoming film lineup with four mystery Marvel projects scheduled for release in 2024.
There’s been plenty of speculation over what these mystery films could be, but nothing has been officially confirmed at this stage. That hasn’t stopped fans from weighing in with their picks on social media, and the latest person to do so is none other than Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.
Ryan Reynolds Weighs In On Marvel's Unannounced Films
Replying to Brandon Davis from ComicBook.com in a tweet, Ryan Reynolds jokingly put forward his predictions for Marvel’s unannounced titles, including Fantastic 1, Fantastic 2, and Fantastic 3 in addition to Nick Fury Road.
My guesses: - Fantastic 1 - Gin Genie - Weekend at Blind Al’s - Fantastic 2 - Nick Fury Road - Fantastic 3
Could Deadpool 3 Be One of Marvel's Mystery Films?
While all of Reynolds' guesses sound like great Marvel movies, one that is noticeably absent from his predictions is his own upcoming film Deadpool 3.
Easily one of the most exciting things about Disney's acquisition of Fox was the fact that Deadpool would be under the same umbrella as Marvel Studios. After two successful films with Fox, the future of Deadpool seemed to be up in the air due to the merger, until Kevin Feige confirmed that the Merc with the Mouth would indeed be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Little is known about the third Deadpool film right now but Reynolds is said to be hard at work helping to write the script, and it appears this third outing will mark the first R-Rated movie in the MCU.
Kevin Feige confirmed not long ago that Marvel Studios has a release window planned for the third Deadpool film but that it wouldn’t begin filming until 2022 at the earliest. Given these comments, it seems likely one of these new 2024 slots is reserved for Deadpool 3.
