After being delayed not once, not twice, but three times and left completely untouched for at least a year, Black Widow will officially be released on Disney+'s Premier Access and in theaters on July 9, 2021. Even actor David Harbour apologized to fans about multiple delays.
Harbour promised a literal family dynamic with himself and the rest of the primary cast that will factor into the film's plot.
Additionally, a new clip from Black Widow that should be familiar to fans has been released, showing off this dynamic with greater context and an embarrassed Yelena Belova.
DAVID HARBOUR DRESSED TO DINE AS RED GUARDIAN
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live, after David Harbour complained about how his character, Alexei Shostakov, should be speaking Russian instead of English in Black Widow, a short clip from the upcoming film was played.
It showed Shostakov donning his Red Guardian costume for the first time after all these years, which still fits to the embarrassment of Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.
The full clip can be seen below:
THE EMBARRASSING FATHER FIGURE IN BLACK WIDOW
Parts of this scene have been seen by fans multiple times in various trailers, but this clip gives an uninterrupted showing of it, including Yelena's reaction to Shostakov's old costume. Fans know at this point that Natasha abandoned Yelena to the torture of the Red Room, so Yelena may not be as ready to jump back into this dynamic again.
However, it's apparent that over the course of the film their bond is repaired, with Florence Pugh's Yelena eventually taking up the mantle of Black Widow herself after Natasha's sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame. Following Black Widow, the next time fans will see her character is alongside Jeremy Renner in Disney+'s Hawkeye.
As for Harbour's Red Guardian, it's unknown whether he will survive the events of Black Widow, but the actor has already teased other Russian-based superheroes. So, he could survive and have his own adventures with those Siberian heroes.
Black Widow premieres in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on July 9, 2021.
