Scarlett Johansson's solo film Black Widow will finally hit theaters on July 9 after being delayed for more than a year. The 24th MCU film was supposed to originally release on May 1, 2020, but one global pandemic later and fans will finally get to head out to a theater and see the Marvel hero.
Johansson is joined by Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff, and David Harbour as Red Guardian.
The film will focus on Black Widow's non-Avengers family and will dive into her past life as a Russian spy. Marvel Studios has just given fans a new look at this complicated family dynamic.
RED GUARDIAN ESCAPES PRISON IN BLACK WIDOW
A new clip of Black Widow has been released from Marvel Studios, showing Scarlett Johansson's Natasha and Florence Pugh's Yelena attempting to break David Harbour's Red Guardian out of a Russian prison. The scene shows off some of Red Guardians' super soldier abilities.
The official clip from Marvel Studios' Black Widow can be viewed below:
A FAMILY AFFAIR IN BLACK WIDOW
How much red of Black Widow's ledger will fans see on July 9?
This clip is a good look at the humor and action of Marvel Studios' latest but also shows the unflattering reality of her adopted family. Why is Red Guardian in prison? Isn't he supposed to be the Captain America of Russia?
Then again, in 2016 (the setting for this film) Steve Rogers was also wanted by the US Government, so it'd be unfair to judge Harbour's husky hero.
Breaking out of this prison doesn't seem to be going well so far, even though Natasha and Yelena appear to be relatively calm, so maybe they're just waiting for their time to join the fight.
The Red Guardian clearly isn't in his prime but kicking in a metal door and leaping up a wall showed off how similar his abilities may be to Steve Rogers and the super soldiers portrayed in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Find out how this family prison break turns out when Black Widow releases in theaters and on Disney+'s Premier Access July 9.
