Amid the upcoming slate of DC's sequels, spinoffs, and remakes like James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, The Flash, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, there's a sole original in the mix — Black Adam starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

This film has been a long time coming considering Johnson's attachment to the project in 2007, and its star-studded cast continues to grow with the likes of Pierce Brosnan and Tony Award-nominee James Cusati-Moyer.

In early April, Johnson took to social media to announce Black Adam had begun filming. Now, a new photo on social media shows the actor ready to take his place in front of the camera as DC's newest superhero.

THE ROCK IS FINALLY COOKING IN ATLANTA

An Instagram post from @atlanta_filming shows that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has arrived in Atlanta, Georgia for the filming of Black Adam.

Atlanta Filming captioned the post saying "#TheRock landing today. Had a hunch the plane would face the wrong way ;)."

Clearly, Atlanta Filming's hunch was right! The posted photo shows a masked Johnson fresh off a plane and on the tarmac about to hop in a black Ford truck.

BLACK ADAM IS FINALLY FILMING BUT ITS MYSTERY REMAINS

For a film that has been in the works since at least 2007 and plagued by delays of all kinds, Johnson's arrival is a huge milestone and proof that the film is finally on the right track.

Still, there's a great deal of mystery surrounding the project and fans don't know quite what to expect from its story.

In addition to James Cusati-Moyer, comedian Mo Amer was recently confirmed as a member of the cast; but both of these actors' roles are still a mystery with speculative rumors swirling around the possibility of the Justice Society.

But now that Johnson is in Atlanta, and as filming continues, fans may learn more about the film in weeks to come.

In the meantime, it's refreshing to finally have an original film and new a character in the DC pipeline to speculate about until Black Adam's theatrical release on July 29, 2022.
