Actor Ben Affleck debuted as The Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and made waves with fans. Despite the controversy surrounding this character adaptation, audiences still praised Affleck as one of the best parts of the film.
Unfortunately for fans, most of the general audience and critics didn't feel the same way about Snyder's film, resulting in Warner Bros. drastically alternating plans. Due to other circumstances in Affleck's life, he moved further away from the role until he seemingly hung up the cowl for good.
Ben Affleck thankfully agreed to return as the Caped Crusader in The Flash, but his role as Batman moving forward will be replaced by former Bruce Wayne actor Michael Keaton.
In remembrance of his role as Batman, director Zack Snyder posted an old photo of the actor doing a costume fitting for the famed suit.
BEN AFFLECK IN HIS BATMAN SUIT
In celebration of Ben Affleck's 49th birthday, director Zack Snyder posted a retro black and white photo of Affleck wearing the Batman costume.
Snyder accompanied the photo with "Shot on my phone October 23, 2013 Happy Birthday Batman," which was two months after Affleck was cast as Bruce Wayne.
COSTUME FITTING FOR THE DARK KNIGHT
Considering the proximity of the time this photo was taken and Ben Affleck being cast as Bruce Wayne, this is likely one of the first costume fittings Affleck had for The Dark Knight in what would eventually be titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The first official image of Affleck's Batman wouldn't be released to the public until May 13, 2014, when Zack Snyder posted Ben Affleck in costume alongside his iteration of the Batmobile on Twitter. So, it's interesting to see an earlier version of the suit that seemingly doesn't differ much from the final product.
The only possible changes made were the logo's position, the details of his utility belt, and the addition of spiked fins on his gloves.
Fortunately, fans will see this incarnation of Batman and his suit one more time in The Flash on November 4, 2022.
