Wonder Woman Gets Crude Reference In New Peacemaker Trailer

As the calendar flips from 2021 to 2022, DC fans are preparing for the biggest year of content releases within the DC Extended Universe yet. This new year won't see DC mainstays like Wonder Woman or Black Adam get sequels to their most recent movie; instead, the spotlight will be put on the newer faces. Kicking things off in the first month of 2022 will be John Cena as he leads the way in the HBO Max series Peacemaker.

The eight-episode series will pick up with Cena's central anti-hero after Idris Elba's Bloodsport shot him in the final battle of 2021's The Suicide Squad, although the film's post-credits scene confirmed him to still be alive and kicking. The wrestling icon's Christopher Smith will come in alongside an all-star supporting cast featuring returning DCEU stars Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee as longtime comic book movie director James Gunn leads the way.

Although the plot of Peacemaker is largely unknown, fans are well aware of how closely it ties into the events of the DCEU with trailers already directly referencing heroes like Jason Momoa's Aquaman. Now, with only a couple of weeks until the show debuts, a new trailer is teasing yet another reference to a franchise mainstay that Cena's character will touch on.

Peacemaker References Wonder Woman in NSFW Fashion

DC's official YouTube channel released the second full trailer for John Cena's Peacemaker, which debuts on HBO Max on January 13, 2022.

In the trailer's first scene, Peacemaker is visiting a school classroom and celebrating his exploits in as PG of a fashion as possible when the topic moves to Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. One kid asks if he's ever met the Amazonian princess, to which he says that she "eye-effed" him at a party once, getting some angry glares from the adults in the room.

Kid: Have you met Wonder Woman?

Peacemaker: She did spend an entire party eye-effing me from across the room.

Kid: Sick.

Wonder Woman In Peacemaker's Made-Up Stories

Wonder Woman is currently one of the most popular characters in the DCEU thanks to a highly-praised first solo movie and a sequel that helped bring the franchise back into prominence in late 2020. Now, she becomes the unfortunate butt of quite the inappropriate joke from Peacemaker, who bragged about his likely non-existent NSFW exploits with the heroine to a classroom full of young children.

It's still unclear what kind of role heroes like Wonder Woman will play over Peacemaker's eight episodes, although they will likely be relegated to name drops like the one in this trailer. Whether that changes later on, Cena will bring plenty of laughs as he compares himself to the DCEU's best through this journey.

The rest of the trailer showcased more of what will make this show quite a fun ride, including the team's nonchalance in a potentially world-threatening mission and enough cursing to make Marvel's Deadpool a happy camper. Also included are moments like the bald eagle Eagley chomping at John Economos' rear end and Danielle Brooks' Leota showing her confidence with weapons, setting the stage for likely one of the DCEU's funnier projects.

As Peacemaker's mid-January release date inches closer, fans will be looking out for more promotional material and trailers that give more hints toward what will come to streaming screens in the show's final cut.

Peacemaker will begin streaming on HBO Max on January 13, 2022.
