Months after its conclusion, WandaVision continues to be regarded by many as Marvel Studios' greatest Disney+ venture yet. The series recently earned the MCU its first Emmy Awards as it took home prizes for production and costume design.
Many fans have often praised WandaVision for taking on a unique style as it hopped from the '50s to modern-day in its reality-bending sitcom format. Naturally, creating the series' varying aesthetics took a lot of work on the part of the design team.
As Marvel Studios continues to push ahead with Phase 4 as What If...?'s first season remains underway, one concept artist offered a new look at more of WandaVision's early designs.
New Monica Rambeau WandaVision Concept Art Revealed
During a recent live stream, Marvel Studios' Director of Visual Development Andy Park revealed several new pieces of Monica Rambeau concept art from WandaVision.
One piece of concept art comes from WandaVision's fourth installment as Monica resurfaces at the SWORD base having just been banished from the Hex by Wanda.
The design features Rambeau on the base in her '70s Westview attire being approached by Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis as she lies beside the Hex itself.
Meanwhile, a second design offers a new look at an early version of Rambeau's attempts to breach into the Hex using a rover in the series' seventh episode, something which eventually proved unsuccessful.
In the final cut of the series, the rover wasn't nearly as big and the Hex emitted a reddish glow from the outside.
Another design depicts an alternative version of the newly super-powered Rambeau's entry into the Hex.
Within this design, Monica can be seen in a more traditional combat suit armed with a gun in place of the spacesuit shown in the episode itself.
Monica Rambeau's Bright MCU Future
Coming out of WandaVision, Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau proved to be a fan-favorite character, and the new hero appears to have a bright MCU future going forward. While she initially made her debut as a SWORD agent, Rambeau eventually developed her own arsenal of superpowers, setting up her transformation into Photon or Spectrum in MCU projects down the line.
Monica Rambeau is next confirmed to appear in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel in November 2022. However, the post-credits scene of WandaVision teased that she will interact with Nick Fury soon, potentially teasing an appearance in next year's Secret Invasion Disney+ series.
The exact significance of Rambeau in the future of the MCU remains to be seen, but it wouldn't be at all shocking to see her super-powered alter-ego fighting alongside the Avengers when they next assemble.
WandaVision is streaming now, exclusively on Disney+.
