Fans were both surprised and confused by Darcy Lewis' return to the MCU, and fans wondered what Kat Dennings would actually be doing in WandaVision .

Over time, her role in the story seems to be gaining clarity through rumors and interviews . Not to mention watching the show itself, where fans believe she was the one taking notes in front of the S.W.O.R.D. monitor at the end of the first episode.

Kat Dennings may not be returning to the Thor franchise , but it's nice that her character wasn't left by the wayside. According to Dennings, she was lucky to even get the role of Darcy in Thor, especially with the odd audition process she had to go through getting it.

NEWS

Speaking on the Keep It podcast , Kat Dennings spoke about her involvement in WandaVision and the secrecy that surrounding production for it. Dennings was asked if the secrecy of WandaVision was as intense as her audition for Thor :

“It was as intense, but it had shifted in the way that...When I did Thor , I didn't really...It was so secret that I didn't know what I was auditioning for.”

When Kat Dennings auditioned for Thor , she had no idea about the part she was auditioning for besides that it was for a superhero movie:

“I have no idea what's going on. I don't know what the movie is, all I know is that it's a superhero movie and I'm like 'Am I a superhero?' What do I wear, like, leggings? What do I do? So, I was like, I'll toe the line. I'll try and look a little cute, but I don't know who I'm playing cause you get fake sides.”

After explaining that sides are excerpts of a script for actors to read, Dennings further explained the audition process; specifially, she shed light on the weirdness of the reveal that the address she was given was fake and that she would be brought to the “real” address:

“Fake sides, character didn't exist, signed a thing at this address, I looked around, and I was like 'There's no one at this address' and then someone came over in a golf cart, and he was like 'I'm here to take you to the real place' and I was like 'What?'”

Dennings began to remark how odd this audition process was, jokingly comparing it to an abduction:

“Right? Well, 100% like abduction, but it was like a different place entirely, it was so, so crazy.”

The actress also reflects that she didn't know why she ultimately got the role of Darcy in Thor and that she counts herself lucky:

“I don't know why I got that part to be honest. It was just lucky. A lucky thing.”

WHAT THIS MEANS

It's curious if Marvel Studios does this sort of audition process for even minor roles since this audition was in 2010. Marvel Studios still seems to be just as secretive , even with actors on set who are given special scripts to avoid spoilers for the film getting out.

It's funny to imagine the hoops other actors like Dennings had to jump through to audition for huge blockbusters, who may never know for sure if they had missed such a big opportunity. It's harder to believe that Marvel Studios would be as obtuse when casting their lead for these movies. It is difficult to imagine Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige having their casting director giving Brie Larson a fake audition address like with Dennings.
