While Marvel Studios hasn't had a new release since late April, the MCU is in the spotlight once again for a multitude of reasons.
Loki will be making its long-awaited debut next month after releasing its first full clip, which came at the MTV Movie Awards. This event came as a huge boost for Marvel, who also premiered a scene from July's Black Widow while winning multiple awards for the year's earlier work on Disney+.
Phase 4's first project, WandaVision, took home a trio of awards for the work from leading actresses Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn, including Best Performance, Best Fight, and Best Show. Hahn's run of success continues in a big way after bringing the villainous Agatha Harkness to life within the MCU.
For a while, Agatha was connected to an even more powerful player from Marvel Comics, which she addressed before her award-winning night.
KATHRYN HAHN TALKS FAN THEORIES
WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn on the MTV Pop Up Pre Show before the 2021 MTV Movie Awards to answer some questions about her MCU appearance. Specifically, she was asked if there were any fan theories she read on Agatha Harkness, along with which were her favorites.
While she admitted "not being on social media," she revealed that she'd heard how Agatha "was there as a puppet for Mephisto." She didn't know of the villain until later, although she seemed to enjoy hearing these theories:
"Yes, I knew there were a lot of theories leading up to this show. I mean, the noise, that was kind of one of the most fun things for me not being on social media was to hear from friends how much noise was happening while the show was going on. I remember hearing that I was there as a puppet for Mephisto, that was a theory that I heard, and I had to immediately say, ‘Who is Mephisto?’ Don’t hold that against me! Now I know who Mephisto is."

STILL NO MEPHISTO IN SIGHT
Throughout WandaVision's eight-week run on Disney+, there was seemingly no character talked about more than the demonic Mephisto. Coming as early as the first week when two episodes premiered, fans found signs at nearly every turn that could have pointed to the villain being the driving force behind Agatha Harkness' evildoings.
As it turns out, the folks who brought the show to life had never even heard of Mephisto before these theories came in full force. While it made some sense thinking that Marvel's version of the Devil may have been able to bring the kind of darkness that came in this story, the major villain was nowhere to be found.
That being said, there are still plenty of opportunities to bring Mephisto into play for a later MCU project. A Mephisto Easter egg was seen in the original trailer for Loki, and with supernatural movies like Blade on the way, fans are on the lookout for the fire and horns to come into the light.
All nine episodes of WandaVision are available to stream on Disney+.
