Following Elizabeth Olsen's Phase 4 debut in WandaVision, she will bring a more powerful Scarlet Witch than ever before into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The MCU's first movie of 2022 is already building substantial momentum in terms of hype, largely thanks to Wanda's story continuing after her starring efforts on Disney+.
Although Marvel Studios' Disney+ shows are deeply interwoven with the movies, fans haven't gotten the chance to see just how tied together they are through Marvel Studios' first year of streaming shows.
However, this will all change with Olsen's co-starring role in the Doctor Strange sequel. This was confirmed even further in the recent Super Bowl trailer, in which a fully suited-up Scarlet Witch fell to her knees in front of a Wanda Variant in the living room of her Westview, New Jersey home.
Rumors have pointed to the MCU looking into adapting some of Wanda's story from the House of M run in the comics, part of which was teased in WandaVision.
Now, one of Olsen's co-stars is bringing House of M back into discussions thanks to some suspicious social media activity surrounding the matter.
WandaVision Star Teases Doctor Strange Sequel
During a Q&A session on Twitter, WandaVision star Julian Hillard referenced the House of M story from Marvel Comics in response to being asked about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Along with the caption "some of y'all," Hillard posted an image of Wanda Maximoff from the comic with a speech bubble that says "no more rumors." This bubble originally read "no more mutants" in the comic:
Hillard replied to that tweet with an image of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter franchise. The picture, however, had the character's faces swapped out for those of John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, and Jenna Fischer from The Office:
Multiverse of Madness Rumors Taking Internet by Storm
Rumors pertaining to MCU movies are nothing new, as seen most recently by the craziness surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may just match the insanity from the Spider-Man threequel with so many prominent characters and storylines coming into play.
Julian Hillard sees this more than almost anybody, especially given his potential role in the movie following his efforts in WandaVision.
His first outing on Disney+ ended with Wanda hearing the voices of her twin sons, Billy and Tommy, through the Multiverse as she read through the pages of the Darkhold. Finding her family again will certainly be on her mind as she helps Strange with his interdimensional issues, although there are no confirmations of the twins appearing on screen.
This all ties in as well to the House of M story that's been teased for most of the last two years for Wanda Maximoff.
With Patrick Stewart's Professor X all but confirmed to play a role in the sequel, Wanda's mutant background may come to life for the first time now that Disney has the X-Men available to bring to the screen. Whether Hillard's teases amount to anything on the House of M front is a mystery, but nothing can be taken for granted with the possibility so clearly there.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will arrive in theaters on May 6, 2022. All nine episodes of WandaVision are available to stream on Disney+.
