It was quite fortunate that James Gunn and Warner Bros. managed to finish filming for The Suicide Squad just as the pandemic struck the industry, with post-production being easy enough to accomplish in-house and with the help of international SFX studios. Warner Bros. is still attempting to work around the pandemic as it threatens to further delay other productions like Matt Reeves' The Batman.
Despite filming for The Suicide Squad having finished over a year ago, fans still haven't gotten a proper trailer, besides a sneak peek of production at DC FanDome. James Gunn was reportedly unhappy with the abrupt and unprompted plan to move multiple films, including The Suicide Squad, onto HBO Max as a simultaneous release in theaters.
A new trailer has been released by Warner Bros. showing off new footage of all the films that will release on HBO Max, which includes The Suicide Squad.

Fans got two new glimpses at James Gunn's The Suicide Squad in the latest “Same Day Premieres” Trailer for HBO Max. Unfortunately, the Youtube upload is locked, but it can be found on HBO Max's Twitter account.
The first snippet of new footage that DC fans were given include a look at David Dastmalchian's Polka-Dot Man, John Cena's Peacemaker, Idris Elba's Bloodsport, and Daniela Melchior's Ratcatcher.
All of them seem to be gathered under a makeshift shelter in a forest, likely the same one the four of them are seen hiding inside in the DC FanDome preview for The Suicide Squad.
The second should be far more familiar to fans who watched DC FanDome, as it shows the same huge line-up of all the characters walking towards the camera. However, it seems to have been heavily altered with new color-grading and filters added to the shot.
One fan was able to match the new shot with the one seen at DC FanDome, which really shows off the difference instantly:

The HBO Max teaser is still available on Twitter:

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will be available in theaters and HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
WHAT THIS MEANS
James Gunn really has been constantly working on the post-production of The Suicide Squad, considering the difference in that color-grade compared to when it was first shown at DC FanDome. If Gunn has just started work on filming for Peacemaker, that has to mean that at least the majority of the post-production for The Suicide Squad is finished, or at least the parts that would need Gunn's full attention.
It is becoming more and more obvious that certain members of this Suicide Squad will get more attention than others, particularly these four: Polka-Dot Man, Peacemaker, Bloodsport, and Ratcatcher. Also how could we forget Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, who is essentially the mascot for the franchise at this point. James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has an enormous cast of characters, so it's easy to expect many of them not making it past the 30-minute mark.
