The MCU is on its way to growing exponentially in quantity thanks to the brand new slate of mini-series set to premiere on Disney+, starting off with this year's WandaVision . These series are going to not only introduce brand new characters never before utilized in the MCU, but new team-ups and hero combinations as well.
After WandaVision , the next show set to come to Disney+ is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier , putting the all-familiar tag team of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes on a brand-new whirlwind adventure post- Avengers: Endgame . NEWS
A newly-shared photo from Instagram user onset.unseen , taken in January of this year from the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in Atlanta, teases an unexpected team-up of Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, and none other than Baron Helmut Zemo. The three actors behind these characters can be seen together, ready to go into some kind of battle seen in the full image below:
The stances and facial expressions of the three actors indicate that this photo was taken mid-scene while the cameras were rolling, not while the actors were hanging out in between takes.
WHAT THIS MEANS
Talk about a joining of forces that nobody saw coming! With the inclusion of Daniel Brühl’s Helmut Zemo in this brand new mini-series, the consensus assumption was that he would be the series’ big bad continuing on from his last MCU appearance in Captain America: Civil War . If this new story truly gives a reason for Zemo to switch sides, even momentarily, it could change everything that the fans are expecting going forward.
The last fans saw of Zemo was of his imprisonment at the end of the third Captain America film, and the only true footage of him from this series (not counting his quick appearance on the Expanding the Universe Disney+ special) has been behind a handful of bullets falling to the ground in an encounter with Bucky Barnes. This is the first sign from any news blasts or set photos that Zemo could help out the show’s heroic tag-team, and it's still a complete mystery as to why this might happen.
It will all unfold sometime next year when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres on Disney+. The show is in its final days of shooting in Prague right now.
