The world of Star Wars is alive more than it ever has been before. Over the last couple of days, lots of new pictures and footage from Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi have been revealed to the world. Needless to say, it blew fans’ anticipation into the stratosphere. There is, however, another piece of Star Wars content that will be released before the show lands: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
While not a television series, the upcoming video games will be a true celebration of everything the franchise has brought to the table so far. Completely remade from the ground up, this installment in the LEGO series will see all nine episodes of the Skywalker Saga translated into brick format for gamers around the world to experience.
With it containing so much content from three different eras, at the least, the game is going to have an enormous list of characters from which players can choose to play as. Of course, there will be the obvious ones like Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but there will be plenty of niche characters as well.
Some of those lesser-known ones have just been revealed thanks to a new behind-the-scenes video for the game.
LEGO's Skywalker Saga Gets More Characters
In a new behind-the-scenes video for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which can be seen in full below, a handful of new playable characters were revealed.
One of the biggest of note is Mama the Hutt, who has only been seen in a single piece of Star Wars content: Season 3, Episode Nine of The Clone Wars, which was titled “Hunt for Ziro”.
Mama’s appearance confirms that there will be Clone Wars characters and potentially other related content in the game, outside of additional DLC packs.
Mama's inclusion could be a good sign for Star Wars: Rebels content too, as Kanan Jarrus’ speeder from the animated series was spotted in a previous trailer. Mama getting her own playable character could therefore add more evidence that the cast of Rebels may be included in some form.
Then, there’s a Shock Trooper, hiding behind Master Mace Windu.
Aftab Ackbar, son of Admiral Ackbar, made the cut thanks to his appearance in The Rise of Skywalker.
Queen Amidala from The Phantom Menace can be seen taking a stroll with Ric Olie behind her.
Among the various trooper types, fans can expect to see the Kashyyyk Trooper among them. The Wookiee captain Tarfful is also re-confirmed to be present in the game.
Carib Diss, who is briefly seen in The Rise of Skywalker, brings his award-winning smile to the table.
Here, taking a casual stroll is Lobot. The character first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and then played a role in several comics afterward.
Then there’s Boushh, who is the bounty hunter that Leia disguises herself as in the Return of the Jedi.
There’s plenty more revealed within the video, however.
In this screenshot of the character selection screen seen in the video, the following figures can be seen on the roster: Finn, Poe, Leia, Luke, R4-P17, C-3PO, Zorii Bliss, Dark Rey, Rebel Friend, Gran, Rey (Scavenger), Rey (Jedi), R0-GR (from The Freemaker Adventures), Rose Tico, Rose Tico (disguise), Salacious Crumb, Stormtrooper, Scout Trooper, Sebulba, Senate Guard, Shaak Ti, Sidon Ithano, and Sith Trooper.

The Many Characters of LEGO Star Wars
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been revealed to have nearly 400 characters, so obscure figures were bound to make the cut. But given those listed above, the team at TT Games certainly did their research.
It's great to see how they've opted to include characters from Clone Wars, and likely Rebels, even if their actual story content wasn't adapted. If Mama the Hutt can appear as an option, who knows what other surprises are waiting for players? Perhaps Bo-Katan, Ahsoka Tano, or the infamous Pong Krell could make the jump into brick form.
Somehow, even with all of those options, the game still has DLC. It was recently revealed that more heroes and villains from The Mandalorian, Solo, Rogue One, and The Bad Batch will be added in after the game releases, with some being bonuses for pre-orders and deluxe edition owners.
With how many characters there are in this game, it truly goes to show just how rich the world of Star Wars is. The world is unbelievably vast and always expanding.
So what comes next? Well, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi are prime candidates. With the Inquisitors reappearing in Kenobi’s upcoming show, and their role in Rebels, hopefully, they get some spotlight as well.
When it comes to other lesser-known properties, fingers crossed that the team was able to include figures from older games, such as Delta Squad from Star Wars: Republic Commando. Maybe future DLC will also see the High Republic characters from the recent books and comics added into the mix.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga hits shelves on April 5, 2022.
