LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga looks set to be the biggest entry in the brick-inspired franchise yet with levels adapting all nine movies in the main saga from The Phantom Menace to The Rise of Skywalker. Across the journey, gamers will visit 24 planets from across the series while unlocking around 300 heroes, villains, and questionable individuals from the series.
Aside from the sheer scale of the latest LEGO Star Wars release, the expansive title also looks to be the richest entry in the franchise. Players will be treated to deeper combat systems, characters class upgrades, and fan-service features like a classic mumble mode.
However, the April launch isn't the end of the line for The Skywalker Saga as the next-gen title is set to receive seven DLC packs with characters from the Disney+ series, big-screen spin-offs, and more.
LEGO Star Wars Reveals DLC Details
Warner Bros. revealed details of the Character Collection Season Pass for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga featuring expansions for The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Rogue One, Solo, and more.
Two packs will be released at launch as part of the pass and as a standalone purchase, including The Mandalorian Season 1. The Mando-inspired pack will include Din Djarin himself, a non-playable Baby Yoda, Greef Karga, Cara Dune, IG-11, and Kuiil.
TT Games also revealed the first look at The Mandalorian and Grogu/Baby Yoda in LEGO form.
The Solo: A Star Wars Story pack will include young variants of Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian, as well as Qi’ra, Tobias Beckett, and Enfys Nest.
The Classic Character pack will also be available at launch for those purchasing from select retailers and for Character Pass owners from April 19. The pack will contain classic LEGO editions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Darth Vader, and Lando Calrissian.
Meanwhile, the Trooper Pack will arrive on day one for digital pre-orders and Character Pass owners on May 4. The pack will include Death Trooper, Incinerator Trooper, Range Trooper, Imperial Shore Trooper, and Mimban Stormtrooper.
On April 19, the Rogue One-inspired will be released featuring Jyn Erso, Bodhi Rook, Cassian Andor, K-2SO, Chirrut Îmwe, Baze Malbu, and Director Krennic.
May 4 (Star Wars Day) will see the second The Mandalorian pack release with characters from Season 2 including Ahsoka Tano, Boba Fett, Bo Katan, Fennec Shand, and Moff Gideon.
Also on Star Wars Day, The Bad Batch pack will release for both pass owners and standalone with Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair, and Echo.
LEGO Star Wars Continues to Grow
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is already the biggest game in the franchise yet between its immense source material, open-world galaxy, and record-breaking character count that will only grow further after launch.
Many will be excited to see LEGO pulling in characters from outside the main Skywalker Saga for its DLC content with The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Rogue One, and Solo being the biggest inclusions. One notable detail is that Grogu is described as a companion and not a playable character, indicating he may simply follow Din around the level and maybe even allow Mando to interact with force features via Baby Yoda.
It is somewhat disappointing to hear the spin-off DLC content will be strictly limited to character packs as opposed to actual levels, but perhaps that idea may be revisited in a future title. After all, many fans would be more than excited to play through content based around The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and the other spin-offs to come.
All in all, the Character Pass ought to give players a reason to continue revisiting The Skywalker Saga after completion to try out the newest characters and explore the galaxy as even more fan-favorite characters.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga hits shelves on April 5, 2022.
