One of the most memorable moments of 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the arrival of Darth Vader and his red-sabered slaughtering of rebels. While Vader had been heavily rumored to be in the film, the overpowering fight sequence was unexpected amongst most fans.
Seeing Anakin Skywalker on the big screen for the first time since 2005's Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was exciting for most fans, especially since it was in the form of Darth Vader from just moments before the beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Both Rogue One and Vader's appearance seemed to have been a success as Diego Luna will be reprising his role from Rogue One in the titular role of Andor, an upcoming Disney+ show. Additionally, Hayden Christensen is confirmed to return as Lord Vader in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series alongside Ewan McGregor, acknowledging that fans simply want more Vader.
DARTH VADER BEHIND THE SCENES
The animation supervisor of Rogue One, Hal Hickel, has now shared a behind-the-scenes look of the Sith Lord on Twitter. The picture displays the back of Vader as he looks out on what appears to be a display of Mustafar.
A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME?
This is a delightful treat for any Vader-loving Star Wars fans out there. It seems like a surreal experience for anyone to see The Chosen One fully decked out in his black suit and iconic helmet.
At the time of Rogue One, it was actors Spencer Wilding and Daniel Naprous who donned the Vader suit. But for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Hayden Christensen was specifically announced to play Darth Vader.
While this may seem like the obvious choice, it does point to what sort of role he will play. There is an argument to be made that the names "Vader" and "Anakin Skywalker" are interchangeable for the character, but Lucasfilm specifically said "Vader" would appear and even teased "the rematch of the century" between the Sith Lord and his former Jedi Master. This shows that Christensen will likely suit up as The Chosen One himself in the series, but flash back sequences to his time as a young Anakin are also a possibility.
Needless to say, fans can rest easy knowing that there is even more Vader to get excited for coming up, and possibly a few other behind the scenes images will be shared.
