Spider-Man: No Way Home Gets Second Chance at Oscars Recognition

Soon, movie fans from all fandoms will join together to celebrate the results of the 2022 Oscars show, which is a hotly-discussed topic every year. While Marvel Studios won't have Black Panther-level representation at this event, there are still a couple of MCU Oscar nominations to look forward to. These come in the Best Visual Effects category for both Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Although No Way Home is certainly worthy of this specific nomination, its arrival made for one of the biggest events in recent memory. Already having become the sixth-highest-grossing movie of all time and one of the best-reviewed films on Rotten Tomatoes, the Spider-Man threequel is still the topic of all topics in the movie community.

As is the case with every MCU movie, Marvel Studios released a "For Your Consideration" campaign to promote No Way Home for the Oscars, with fans hoping for something as good as a Best Picture nod.

That effort proved to be somewhat fruitless, causing plenty of discord amongst the viewers after seeing everything No Way Home brought to the movie community.

However, a new report is indicating that the MCU's last 2021 movie may have a shot at Oscars glory in another unique way.

No Way Home Has Another Oscars Chance

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that movie fans will have the opportunity to vote for an award that will be presented at the 94th Academy Awards.

Beginning on February 14, 2022, Twitter users will have the chance to vote for their favorite movie from 2021 using the hashtag #OscarsFanFavorite. This fun competition, which isn't limited to Oscar-nominated films, will recognize 2021's "Fan-Favorite" movie as the film which gets the most votes by March 3. The Oscars ceremony, taking place on March 27, will announce the winning movie.

Additionally, three Twitter users who vote will be selected for an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles, California to present an Oscar Award during the 2023 ceremonies.

Twitter users can vote for these awards, along with another for their favorite moment from any 2021 movie (#OscarsCheerMoment), up to 20 times per day. This will give more blockbuster movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home the opportunity for recognition at the awards show.

No Way Home's Oscar Glory Coming?

No, this doesn't mean that Spider-Man: No Way Home will have the opportunity to put any more gold Oscars statuettes in Marvel or Sony's trophy cases. However, this fan event does make sure that the threequel gets a little bit of its due shine for making such a monumental impact on the filmmaking landscape.

Fans were in a bit of an uproar after the Spider-Man threequel earned only one Oscar nomination, which came in the same category as most of the MCU's past nominations at cinema's biggest awards show. Now, that fan base will be able to make its voice heard via an outpour of postings on social media to try to give this blockbuster movie its shine at the Academy Awards.

With the end of voting still more than two weeks away, there will be plenty of time for No Way Home to rebuild a following on Twitter in regards to its chance of winning either of these awards. Thankfully, considering how popular it remains in theaters, that shouldn't be much of an issue in the slightest.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters worldwide. The 94th Academy Awards will air on March 27, 2022.
