Although Marvel Studios is currently looking forward to its massive slate of projects in 2022, there is still considerable hype surrounding the worldwide event that came with Spider-Man: No Way Home hitting theaters. Tom Holland’s solo threequel, which featured villains and heroes from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s past movies, is the biggest movie of 2021 and one of the most impactful stories ever told in MCU history.

Arguably the most cheer-worthy moments in No Way Home came when Garfield and Maguire entered Ned Leeds' apartment through sling ring portals, confirming rumors that fans had asked about for the better part of a year. Garfield's return in particular was especially satisfying after seeing him spend most of the last twelve months publicly denying any involvement with No Way Home, even though he was asked about it seemingly every day.

Now that the two previous Spider-Men are canon in the MCU and still alive in-universe, questions begin forming about whether they would come back for more movies as their own web-slingers alongside Holland's solo story. Recently, Garfield addressed the possibility of this happening for him as he shared what he would want to see from his Spider-Man in the future.

Variety spoke with Spider-Man: No Way Home star Andrew Garfield about a potential comeback as Peter Parker in future Spider-Man movies.

While admitting that he would take on the right opportunity, Garfield noted that the character is "all about service to the greater good." Although he seems open to reprising the role again after No Way Home, the actor shared that he would have to be "very sure and certain" in himself in jumping back into the heroic role:

"I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself."

Garfield Wants Spider-Man Done the Right Way

Andrew Garfield's passion for playing Peter Parker and Spider-Man can't be understated, as evidenced by the excitement and joy he showed playing the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home after seven years away from the spandex. Now, with Marvel Studios fully exploring the Multiverse and Sony developing their own Spider-Man universe, the opportunity for Garfield to come back is certainly real.

As for making his next appearance as the web-slinger, Garfield appears adamant in wanting to make sure it's the right project and that he feels confident in his ability to play the truest version of Peter Parker that he can. Getting in touch with the character's struggle is along the lines of what Garfield does with any role he takes on, and it seems to be especially important considering how much fans love Spider-Man as a hero.

Right now, Garfield has no ties to Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures, and there are no announced plans for future Spidey outings other than Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. However, should that change in any way, fans and critics shouldn't count out the possibility of the Amazing Spider-Man donning the classic suit for more adventures.
