Ahsoka Tano is one of the biggest names within the Star Wars universe, having risen through the ranks within the fandom in both animated shows and live-action projects. Now, Lucasfilm and Disney+ are finally about to give the former Jedi her own solo series, Ahsoka, featuring Rosario Dawson in the leading role as the dual lightsaber-wielding warrior comes back to the forefront.
Dawson first made her mark with Ahsoka in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian, where she revealed some important information about Grogu, formerly known as Baby Yoda. She then returned in The Book of Boba Fett as she worked with Luke Skywalker to help train Grogu, all coming before what should be an epic solo series that ties back to her roots in The Clone Wars and Rebels.
Production for Ahsoka remains largely a mystery, with rumored set photos being debunked as fake and fans still having no idea when to expect the series to release on Disney+. Thankfully, some exciting news has come from the top source on the matter regarding production, even including a piece of clothing that Star Wars fans will instantly recognize.
Rosario Dawson's Solo Ahsoka Story Begins
Star Wars' official Twitter account shared that production on the upcoming Ahsoka Disney+ series begins today.
Along with the caption "Ahsoka, an Original series, starts production today," the account included an image of a director's chair with the series' title card on the back. Also seen in the image is a black cowboy hat hanging off the back, which is famously known to belong to executive producer Dave Filoni.
Star Wars Returns to Disney+ with Ahsoka
While this set photo doesn't actually reveal anything about what's coming in Ahsoka, the simple fact that production is starting should have fans thrilled for more from the galaxy far, far away.
Seeing Filoni's iconic cowboy hat can only mean good things after the long-time Star Wars expert helped deliver such a beloved story centered on Ahsoka Tano through nearly a dozen seasons of animated TV programming. Having been involved with every live-action Disney+ series to date in addition to being with Ahsoka from the very start, his expertise will only add another level of excellence and continuity to Ahsoka's first time headlining a story.
Now that production is officially underway, the biggest question pertains to when the show will release, especially with the anticipation of seeing iconic characters like Darth Vader and Sabine Wren alongside the powerful warrior. This will also be Dawson's first time to truly shine in the Star Wars universe, with only two full episodes of screen time under her belt at the moment.
Ahsoka is now filming for its upcoming release on Disney+.
