The Disney+ side of Star Wars is growing, and this was mainly due to the success of The Mandalorian . During the recently-concluded Disney Investor Day, it was made clear that streaming is the next big thing for the galaxy far, far away since numerous projects were announced and several of those will come from the same timeline of The Mandalorian.
One of those shows is Ahsoka , and given the popularity of the character, fans can agree that this announcement was long overdue. The spinoff will follow the adventures of the fan-favorite Togruta during the aftermath of both Return of the Jedi and Star Wars Rebels . Given that, it's a safe bet that one of the main storylines of the show will center around the search for the long-lost Ezra Bridger .
Not much is known as to when Ahsoka will be released on Disney+, but an interesting tidbit from one of the co-creators of The Mandalorian may shed some light on the release timeline of the spinoff.
NEWS
In an interview with Good Morning America , The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau confirmed that Dave Filoni is currently writing the script for Ahsoka which will star Rosario Dawson as the titular Jedi.
“I'm working with my partner, Dave Filoni, who is a fantastic producing partner...writer who I met when I did a voice in The Clone Wars. We met at the Skywalker Ranch and we're working together on this show [ The Mandalorian. ] He's doing Ahsoka, which he's writing right now...”

WHAT THIS MEANS
The fact that Dave Filoni is already writing the script for Ahsoka should serve as a piece of exciting news for Star Wars fans. More so, it's fitting that Filoni is a major part of the spinoff since he is the one responsible for bringing the character to life in the first place.
The Mandalorian already provided a glimpse of what a live-action Ahsoka Tano looks like during “Chapter 13" of Season 2 , and the character's inclusion made fans eager to learn more about the former Jedi's new chapter in the Disney+ era.
Based on the current release timeline of Star Wars projects, it's likely that it will be a while before Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ since the focus of Lucasfilm right now is towards The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian Season 3. Given that, it's safe to assume that Ahsoka may release during 2022 at the soonest with cameras rolling for filming at some point next year.
All in all, the forthcoming release of Ahsoka will no doubt open up new story opportunities for Star Wars, and it will be interesting to find out what the (former) Jedi has been up to all these years.
