Lisa Molinari has been sighted in a new trailer for Marvel Studios' next project. The MCU is currently in the final stages of the Multiverse Saga, and the next live-action TV series on the schedule is VisionQuest, the last installment in the trilogy that began with 2021's WandaVision. VisionQuest is set to introduce faces both old and new to the MCU, with Paul Bettany leading the series as Vision.
Another character set to appear in VisionQuest is Lisa Molinari, played by Lauren Morais. Lisa Molinari is known in Marvel Comics as a member of the young Masters of Evil, although she is initially an accomplice of Tommy Shepherd (aka Tommy Maximoff). In VisionQuest's newest trailer, Morais can be spotted briefly as Lisa Molinari, marking her first appearance in a live-action MCU project.
Lisa is seen in a brief scene, looking at someone off-screen as her eyes and face begin to glow an ominous red. In the comics, Lisa is better known by her alias Coat of Arms. Her powers typically stem from a magical armored coat that grants her the ability to fly and gives her two extra sets of arms. She is also known to conjure weapons from within the pockets of the coat.
Lisa's appearance in the VisionQuest trailer doesn't give away much about her character in the series. In the comics, she's known to have met Tommy Shepherd while they were both in juvenile detention. In the trailer, Lisa does appear to be in a warehouse-like room, which could hint at her imprisonment.
The red glow from her eyes could indicate how her powers will manifest in the show, or Marvel Studios may have altered some of Lisa's abilities for her arrival in the MCU. In the comics, Lisa doesn't find the magical coat until after she leaves juvie, so it's possible these powers are unrelated to those she eventually receives, depending on when the series picks up with her story.
In the comics, Tommy Shepherd goes on to become a part of the Young Avengers, while Lisa forms her own rival team, the Young Masters. When the two meet again, they share an attraction and try to get the other to join their respective team, but end up going their separate ways.
Lisa later joined the Masters of Evil, a team of supervillains with dozens of different incarnations that have served as opponents to the likes of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. The Masters of Evil also had a subsect known as the Young Masters, which featured younger new recruits like Lisa.
It's unclear how large a role Lisa will play in VisionQuest, but the new Disney+ show is responsible for setting up the teenage Tommy Maximoff, whose spirit was transplanted into a drowning boy by Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke) in Agatha All Along. Assuming Tommy ends up in juvie as he does in the comics, it seems VisionQuest will set up Lisa as an ally or friend, with the potential to become a future enemy.
VisionQuest is the next new Marvel Studios project set to be released on October 14, 2026. Created by Terry Matalas, VisionQuest stars returning MCU stars Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader as Ultron, as well as newcomer Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy.
Is Marvel Studios Setting Up the Young Masters of Evil?
Lisa Molinari's inclusion in VisionQuest does lay the groundwork for the Young Masters to appear in the MCU.
The group typically includes young villains like Melter, Executioner, Egghead, Enchantress, and Big Zero, along with Coat of Arms. While initially setting out to be heroes, the team's conflicting ideals and ethics often led them to become villains or antiheroes, and eventually they came under the leadership and guidance of the adult Masters of Evil.
Marvel Studios is also slowly assembling the members of its Young Avengers, which includes Tommy and Billy Maximoff, Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), and Cassia Lang (Kathryn Newton). It makes sense that the studio might also start placing pieces on the board to rival the young superhero team.
Creating an equally young villain team, like the Young Masters, could serve as the ideal nemeses for the Young Avengers, and Lisa Molinari's inclusion in VisionQuest might be just the start of that larger plan.
