Filming for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings began last February. Production went smoothly into March until the coronavirus outbreak spiraled out of control, forcing it to stop completely. Shang-Chi and other films from Marvel Studios wouldn't only be delayed once, not twice, but three times.
The cast and crew celebrated the wrapping of production back in October. However, fans have been deprived of any promotional material due to the constant delays, aside from leaked merchandise.
Shang-Chi star Simu Liu assured fans in February that the trailer will be “so good,” but that it wouldn't be coming out that day or any time soon. Liu seemed just as downtrodden as the fans who had not gotten any official glimpse at the Chinese superhero.
In early April, fans were tipped off that promotion for Shang-Chi was finally in motion, and today, that promotion is here at last with the first official poster for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
SHANG-CHI IN ALL HIS MARTIAL ARTS GLORY
Simu Liu has posted the first official poster for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, showing the titular hero in all his glory.
SIMU LIU'S LIVE-ACTION COSTUME AT LAST
For the last several weeks, fans have only had the privilege of seeing Simu Liu's live-action costume through leaked merchandise, which turned out not to be too far off.
Finally, fans can see the superhero costume in all its glory in the first officially released promotion for the film, showing off Liu's muscular build and forearms.
The costume itself is quite simple with Shang-Chi's black and red color scheme from the comics but with amazing details and textures embedded into the outfit. The patterns adorning it look like dragon scales, and even the bands at the end of the sleeves look like hardened leather. It will be amazing to see the costume and actor in motion when the trailer for the kung-fu film eventually drops.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently scheduled to release in theaters on September 3, 2021.
