Most of the last year has been an absolute rollercoaster of a ride for the entertainment industry, specifically for major players like Marvel Studios. With the team's biggest slate of projects to date set to premiere in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have grown more impatient by the day to see their favorite Marvel heroes back in action on the big screen.
Even with Phase 4's blazing start on Disney+, there has not been an MCU movie released in theaters since July 2019. After months of delays pushing the start of Phase 4 further into the future, things finally appear to be looking up thanks to some breaking news.
Black Widow, the MCU's first Phase 4 movie, will finally release in theaters on July 9, 2021; it will also arrive on Disney+ the very same day. In light of these events, a couple of the MCU's upcoming first-time stars shared their thoughts on this summer's blockbuster arrivals.
SHANG-CHI STAR REACTS TO DELAYS
In response to Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings having its theatrical release delayed to September 3, 2021, starring actor Simu Liu gave his reaction to the news on Twitter. Liu encouraged audiences to "GET VACCINATED!" in time for the release.
"It's like that Zoom meeting you're super excited for that keeps getting pushed for reasons beyond your control but you know it's gonna be awesome when it happens! Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives in theatres September 3rd. GET VACCINATED!"

Meanwhile, fellow soon-to-be Marvel actress Kathryn Newton, who will be playing Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, took to her Instagram to share her excitement for the July release of Black Widow.
MCU MOVIES FINALLY ON THE HORIZON
Even as fans continue to wait for the MCU's next batch of blockbusters, it's clear that the films' stars are in that very same boat in terms of anticipation.
Simu Liu has never been shy about expressing his enthusiasm to join the MCU since he was first announced to be playing Shang-Chi at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. The actor even made his own video showcasing his martial arts skills at the end of 2020, confirming that he was the perfect choice to play the MCU's Master of Kung Fu.
As for Newton, her joy for the release of Black Widow simply proves that she's as big of an MCU fan as Liu and anybody else waiting for these releases.
Coming as only the second solo female-led movie in the MCU, Black Widow has been put through the wringer as Scarlett Johansson's feature has been pushed back over a year from its original release date. Kathryn Newton may not be debuting in the MCU until 2022 or 2023, but she's already deeply connected to the MCU family as she celebrates Phase 4's first big-screen adventure.
Black Widow will release in theaters and on Disney+ on July 9, 2021. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will debut on September 3, 2021.
