When Marvel's Eternals debuts in theaters on November 5, 2021, the ambitious film will introduce a new ensemble of heroes unlike any the MCU has had before.
These ancient immortals created by the Celestials and tasked with protecting mankind from the Deviants have been on Earth for centuries and possess varying abilities, ranging from flight and telepathy to weapon creation and speed.
Ajak, played by Salma Hayek, not only belongs to the group of Eternals that Sersi's Gemma Chan described as "the thinkers," but she's also the leader of the group who communicates telepathically with the Celestials.
However, Ajak's appearances in the film's promotion have been limited and few; but now, just ahead of the film's release, fans are getting another look at her in action along with an idea of the stakes these cosmic heroes are up against.
Eternals Teaser Shows Threat Against Salma Hayek's Ajak
A new teaser for Marvel's Eternals highlighted the Deviants and the threat they posed to the MCU's new roster of heroes, along with a few new shots of Salma Hayek's Ajak.
One of the earlier shots in the teaser shows Richard Madden's Ikaris right before he takes off in flight.
The next shot shows a Deviant slowly rising up out of the water with what appears to be a city skyline in the background. All the while, a voiceover from Gemma Chan's Sersi says, "The Deviants. They're back. We have to stop them."
Next, what looks to be a Celestial form illuminates while a small figure - assumed to be Hayek's Ajak - hovers in suspension.
This is followed by a view of the Celestial from afar looking down at what may be Ajak in its hand and with Earth in the distance.
After several other clips of the Eternals cast in action, the teaser cuts to a possible Deviant on a snowy landscape in pursuit of an individual.
That individual looks to be Ajak, as the teaser then shows her, clearly in distress, with a shotgun in hand.
She then raises the shotgun and is poised to fire, but the teaser doesn't reveal if she was successful or what happens to her next.
This new piece also included a quick clip of the Eternals ensemble. However, neither Ajak, Lauren Ridloff's Makkari, nor Gilgamesh, played by Don Lee, are shown.

Will Salma Hayek's Ajak Survive Eternals?
Due to the film's Los Angeles premiere coupled with an increase in promotional material ahead of its domestic release, fans have learned more about what to expect from this ambitious film and even that a sequel may already be in the works.
However, many of the Eternals are still a mystery, including Ajak, who audiences have mostly seen in teasers and trailers communicating with Celestials or in a Western setting explaining the threat the team now faces.
The clip of Ajak firing a shotgun is one fans haven't seen until now, and the panic on her face - coupled with the tone of the overall teaser - seems to be intent on telling audiences that the danger facing mankind is one that the Eternals may not be able to handle despite their abilities and cosmic origins.
Raising the stakes just ahead of the film's release is a smart move considering the fact that these heroes aren't human and seemingly have an advantage over the heroes the MCU has featured so far.
It's worth noting that Marvel has already teased that an "unexpected tragedy" will occur in the film. Could it be the loss of an Eternal and possibly Ajak?
Fortunately, fans won't have to wait long to find out as Eternals debuts in theaters on November 5, 2021.
