Black Widow made waves when it released in June, premiering in theaters and on Disney+. The film's hybrid release was a big deal, as it marked the biggest project to take that route when it came to releasing movies in the pandemic landscape.

The movie's launch was far from smooth, calling into question what the best way of bringing blockbusters to the general public is in today's Covid-stricken world.

Disney recently announced that there was no chance of Shang-Chi going into a hybrid release. With the delay of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, questions remain as to the profitability of the box office scenario for movie distribution.

After Shang-Chi is Chloé Zhao's Eternals, an epic which promises a film unlike anything MCU fans have seen before. With this in mind, the experience certainly seems like one that is best to be had in a theater.

With the Delta Variant starting to delay films, what does that mean for the upcoming MCU entry? Variety asked Marvel Studios' chief Kevin Feige just that, to which the famous producer had a very candid response...

On the red carpet, Kevin Feige was interviewed by Variety, where he was asked if fans would be watching Eternals on the big screen or at home on Disney+.

Feige gave a blunt answer, saying simply that "I think a theater would be [his] preference:"

"I think a theater would be my preference and Chloe [Zhao]'s preference. We will see where we go with it."

The state of the box office is certainly not in the best of spots. Despite critical praise across the board for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, the film bombed hard when it came to selling tickets.

In fact, even Shang-Chi is forecasted for one of the worst openings in the MCU's history. It's not looking great for Marvel's brand-new leading hero.

It's important to keep in mind that all of this isn't indicative of a film's quality. The pandemic is still raging across the world, and the industry is dealing with the obstacles of film distribution across theaters and streaming.

Hopefully by the time Eternals releases, the Delta Variant will be long gone, and the box office on the mend. Fans will have to wait until November 3 to find out, but it will undoubtedly be worth the wait.
