The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is filled with interesting characters, ranging from the main team members led by Chris Pratt's Peter Quill all the way to notable allies like The Ravagers led by Michael Rooker's Yondu. The cosmic space pirates eventually became an integral part of the team's MCU story, but Yondu's story came to a tragic end during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when he sacrificed himself to save Quill from dying.

Vol. 2 also establishes that there are other Ravager factions present in the wider universe, such as the one that is led by Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord. However, the sequel's end-credits scene confirms that Stakar reunites with his old clan, a group of exiled Ravagers to set off on a new adventure.

As the Guardians embrace a new chapter in Vol. 3, set photos indicate that Stallone will return in the threequel, thus fueling speculation if the tease at the end of Vol. 2 will be paid off in a future project. Now, Guardians director James Gunn has shared an intriguing tease about the team's future.

James Gunn Teases Ravagers' Next MCU Appearance

After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn shared a new batch of throwback images of the Ravagers from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Twitter user @SnapzEnt asked if there's a chance that the Stakar Ravager Clan led by Sylvester Stallone's character will appear again in the future or in a potential "Disney+ show:"

"Any chance we see them again? A Disney+ show even 😢"

Gunn responded with a vague tease, saying "you never know."

Given that Stallone has been confirmed to return as Stakar Ogord in Vol. 3, it is still unknown if the rest of his Ravager Clan will be joining him in the next MCU adventure.

Will the Ravagers Return?

James Gunn's latest response could hint that there is something planned for Sylvester Stallone's Ravager clan in the future. Given that the Marvel director had previously claimed that he was interested in making "a Ravagers show," this tease could allude to a Disney+ project centered around the newly-reunited exiled Ravagers at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

It's also possible that Gunn's comment could serve as a hint that Stakar's group will be featured in other MCU projects, such as What If...? Season 2especially after Yondu's Ravagers made an appearance during the first season.

At this stage, there's no indication that a Guardians of the Galaxy spinoff series about the Ravagers on Disney+ is in development from Marvel Studios. However, there's a good chance that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will serve as the launchpad for more adventures centered around Stakar's ragtag group of cosmic misfits.

If Stakar and his group are featured in Vol. 3, the team may end up joining forces with Peter Quill's Guardians against an unknown threat. Doing so would give fans a sneak peek of the team's dynamic, which could be a good preview for a potential Disney+ spinoff series.
