FBI Season 8 finally revealed who Oslo is in Episode 12, following a string of murders and a hijacking of the New York Field Office. The brand-new season of the hit crime procedural series from CBS introduced Oslo as an Interpol-wanted assassin in Season 8, Episode 4, "Manifest," who goes by different aliases, including Isaac Stoll and Carl Amerson, to carry out ruthless killings across the state.

After escaping custody and nearly killing agents Maggie Bell and OA Zidan (who has been absent several times in Season 7) in Episode 4, Oslo returned in FBI Season 8, Episode 12, to wreak some more havoc in the New York Field Office while also revealing his tragic backstory.

Oslo is a ruthless international assassin wanted in six countries, a professional hitman, and an expert at disguises. His first appearance in FBI Season 8 revolved around him targeting and eventually killing a U.S. senator, Charlotte Hirsch, during a protected flight escort, which explained why he ended up in FBI custody.

Following his escape, Oslo proved that he is a tough suspect to catch, and he reemerged in Season 8, Episode 12 to carry out another batch of killings despite being a wanted man by Interpol. This time around, Oslo targeted several federal whistleblowers under FBI custody, using a disguise as Assistant United States Attorney Rothbarth to infiltrate a safehouse.

While the combined might of FBI agents OA, Maggie (who may or may not leave FBI after this season), Scola, and Eva managed to track down and secure the last two whistleblowers, Oslo used his skills to infiltrate the New York Field Office and target them. Although he was successful in killing one witness in custody (and another FBI agent), Oslo was finally taken down by OA after a scuffle inside an elevator.

OA declared that this is a dead end for Oslo because they were able to retrieve his prints, biometrics, and facial recognition, and that his details are now in every law enforcement agency in the country.

During the interrogation, Oslo finally revealed his real name: he is Daniel Pierce, and he is being tasked to kill targets under the orders of a mysterious person or organization named Tribune, who was holding his daughter, Imogen, hostage:

"My real name is Daniel Pierce. My work takes me all across the globe. But Imogen is my only home. She's all I have. I can't let her die."

The episode proved that he is only doing these heinous acts to protect his daughter from harm, and that's the only reason he agreed to return to the U.S. soil despite being a wanted man, cementing his tragic backstory.

FBI Season 8 Episode 12's Ending Proved that There Is a Bigger Threat In Play

While the FBI agents manage to fulfill their promise by saving Oslo's daughter, Imogen, from another hitman hired by Tribune, there is still a deeper threat in play for the show's protagonists due to one key reveal involving someone higher-up at the New York Field Office: Anna Vorpe.

Aside from the fact that Tribune is still out there, it was revealed that Anna Vorpe orchestrated the whole thing to cover her tracks, and Special Agent-in-Charge Isobel Castille (read more if Isobel will leave FBI after Season 8) found out and planned to expose her. As it turned out, there was a Task Force Copper operation that went sideways in Iraq at Ramadi and Vorpe was involved. 16 Iraqi civilians were killed by U.S. Forces, but this op never made headlines (thus the cover up).

However, there is one problem because Anna had connections to the higher-ups in the government who told Isobel to stand down so that she could not expose her. It seemed that a bigger conspiracy is in play for FBI this season, and it will be hard to get out of this one unless there is a strategic coordination within the New York Field Office.
