While Marvel fans are still enjoying the game-changing antics of Spider-Man: No Way Home and looking forward to a big year in 2022, the time has also come to revisit a major outing from 2021 in Eternals. Chloé Zhao's cosmic epic made its mark on the Marvel Studios narrative with new heroes like Richard Madden's Ikaris and Gemma Chan's Sersi while expanding the MCU's fabled history.

One of Eternals' biggest plot twists that still has fans talking came when Ikaris showed his true colors and betrayed his family, doing everything in his power to complete the Resurgence on Earth. After killing Salma Hayek's Ajak and forcing Sersi and the team to take him down along with the rest of the Deviants, fans saw just how dangerous the group of immortal beings can be when pushed in the wrong direction.

Realizing what he'd done, Ikaris followed his mythical counterpart by flying into the sun and seemingly sacrificing himself after not being able to face his fellow Eternals. However, new evidence may indicate that Madden's time in the MCU may not be quite done.

Richard Madden Returning After Eternals?

Brought to light by The Cosmic Circus, a Tik Tok video teased that Richard Madden's Ikaris may be set to return to the MCU after his supposed death in Eternals.

Emmy Kennard, whose brother is stunt actor Joe Kennard, shared a video of herself with the caption "When your brother is a stunt double and his next job is a character coming back into the MCU."

Kennard's only work with Marvel Studios was as Richard Madden's stunt double for 2021's Eternals. While the flying Eternal died in the movie by sacrificing himself, this is the most telling sign yet that Ikaris may be in line to return for another project down the road.

How Will Ikaris Come Back to the MCU?

The Eternals are a unique brand of characters considering that they can't exactly die of natural causes, even though Eternals made clear that death isn't an impossibility through the killing off of both Ajak and Don Lee's Gilgamesh. However, this is a different story entirely with Ikaris' death playing such a key role in how the movie came to a close.

With this news, two big questions immediately form: in which project could Madden come back, and which side of the fight will he be on?

The Eternals are spawns of the Celestials, so there's a chance that the all-powerful beings could find a reason to bring Ikaris back now that the immortal beings are living their own lives on Earth. Also taking into account Harry Styles' Eros after his introduction in the mid-credits scene, bringing back an Eternal as powerful as Ikaris could change the game once again for future stories.

No matter where or when Marvel decides to bring Richard Madden back, it should come with plenty of firepower and quite the battle when it happens.

Eternals is now available to stream on Disney+.
