Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam: Sarah Shahi Joins Cast as Kahndaq Professor

One of the biggest casualties of the latest schedule change for the DC Extended Universe was Black Adam , the first starring project in the franchise for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. While other films like The Batman , The Flash , and Shazam!: Fury of the Gods saw their release dates pushed back a few months, Black Adam was taken completely off of the schedule with no indication of when it will make its way to theaters.

Thankfully, plans for the film still appear to be very much alive, with a production schedule still set to begin early 2021. While plot details are still being kept completely hidden for the time being, the studio and production team are now working diligently to fill in the ranks of the movie's all-star cast alongside Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and Noah Centineo. Another new cast member has recently been announced as well, coming in as the female lead of the highly anticipated solo anti-hero film...

NEWS

A new report Deadline announced that Sarah Shahi has officially joined the cast of Black Adam alongside Dwayne Johnson, which was first reported by The Illuminerdi . Shahi will reportedly play a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq, Black Adam's birthplace.

WHAT THIS MEANS

While Shahi's character doesn't have a name yet for fans to connect to a character from the Black Adam comics, she seems to be in line for a substantial role in this exciting new movie. The most likely theory right now is that her character will end up being Adrianna Tomaz , who eventually turns into Isis, a love interest for Black Adam and an incredibly powerful character in her own right.

The confirmation that she is based out of Kahndaq should be a good indication that she will end up playing Tomaz, which would help fill out Black Adam's backstory and history quite effectively. It's still almost a complete mystery as to how exactly this movie will fit into the DCEU, considering Black Adam's history fighting against fellow DCEU hero Shazam!, but i t should be just as massive of a film with a star as big as Dwayne Johnson taking on the role of the titular character.

Shahi has a long history in Hollywood with roles in movies like Rush Hour 3 , along with TV appearances in City on a Hill , The Rookie, and Psych , amongst many more. She has also been a part of the DC universe before, voicing Killer Frost in a single episode of season of Young Justice on HBO Max , but this is almost guaranteed to be the biggest role of her career to date. Should her character prove to be Isis, a heroine that gains her powers from an amulet owned by the Goddess Isis, she should have plenty of exciting stories and action to take on in her first live-action DC movie.

Black Adam is set to begin production in early 2021, but it has been taken off of DC's release schedule for the time being. Shahi joins Johnson's title character along with Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher .
