Doctor Strange Makes Fun of Hawkeye & Ant-Man in New Multiverse of Madness Clip

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is already opening in theaters all over the world, with fans anticipating another massive solo movie following the efforts of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although street-level heroes like Hawkeye and Ant-Man help drive much of the MCU's story forward, Strange is about to fully embrace the introduction of alternate universes with an insane amount of magic.

Over the last few weeks, Doctor Strange 2's promotional tour has given fans an unexpectedly in-depth look at just how wild this movie will be, teasing some of the film's biggest surprises. The final trailer ahead of the sequel's release largely focused on legacy characters tied to Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch, although a couple of full clips have made their way into the public eye as well.

At this time, the best look into the film has been from a fight sequence between Strange and Gargantos in which he does his best to keep Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez safe from harm. Now, a new full clip from the film has come online shortly before it arrives in the movie - one that references a couple of important players from other corners of the MCU.

Strange Clip Pokes Fun at Other Avengers

Marvel Studios, via @DrStrangeUpdate on Twitter, shared a 40-second clip from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange 2 Wanda

In this new footage, Doctor Strange talks to Wanda and tries to find out what she knows about the Multiverse before asking for her help. He then explains the situation concerning America Chavez as Gargantos tries to take her Multiverse-based powers.

The good doctor asks Wanda for her help, noting that he'd rather go to her than Hawkeye, Ant-Man, or Spider-Man to help fix their looming problems, lightly joking about their superpowers:

Strange: “We’ve taken it to Kamar-Taj, and we’ve got our defenses, but we could use an Avenger.”

Wanda: “There are other Avengers.”

Strange: “Yeah, but, given the choice between the archer with a mohawk and several bug-themed crime-fighters, or one of the most powerful magic-wielders on the planet, it’s an easy call.”

Wanda vs. Hawkeye or Ant-Man

Doctor Strange 2 is set to feature two of the MCU's most powerful characters in Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff, both of whom are experts at all different kinds of magic. Even considering how logical it is to bring someone like Wanda into a story this big, hearing Strange joke about heroes like Hawkeye and Ant-Man isn't something that fans will want less of with the MCU's next story.

Strange's nod to other Avengers is also notable considering his lack of interactions some of the other heroes, especially with Clint Barton and Scott Lang. Although they didn't directly fight near one another during Avengers: Endgame, Hawkeye and Ant-Man's contributions to the group effort against Thanos should get at least some recognition from the sorcerer. There's also Clint's close relationship with Wanda to remember, which could be something the Scarlet Witch thinks about with this comment.

This clip is most likely one of the movie's earliest moments, especially since it's one that's partially been utilized in both full trailers and multiple TV spots leading up to the film's debut. It also leads off directly from Strange and Wanda's mention of the Westview story from WandaVision, helping set the stage for some major expansion into bigger storytelling right from the get-go.

With this footage being released so close to Doctor Strange 2's debut in theaters, there most likely won't be any more new scenes like this to come online before the entire movie hits the big screen. As Marvel has seemingly put more wild plot points into this movie than in any solo movie from the past, fans will be itching to see just how much is jam-packed into just over two hours of screentime.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will debut on Disney+ on May 6.
